Her full name is Empress Ilyrah Aer Iana, also known as the White Rose. She is the benevolent and modest sovereign of the magically advanced Rubian Empire, and the younger twin sister of former Empress Lyrah.

She has the divine gift of healing those afflicted by Dhin Lar (the Black Curse), a supernatural scourge that turns its victims into terrifying monsters called Spectraels. Thousands make the pilgrimage to the Rubian city-state, Ilendil, to seek her healing light.

She’s the former Empress of the Rubian Empire, a worldwide futuristic/magically advanced civilization. Her realm is gripped by a horrifying disease called Dhin Lar (the Black Curse), which turns people into soul-thirsty shades called Spectraels.

Throughout history people feared this curse. Lyrah, however, saw it as a form of change that should be embraced instead of feared and enacted this belief on her people. Some rose to support her, and many rejected her. The controversy of her beliefs and her merciless rule started a war which led to the deaths of many. For this, she was forcibly dethroned by her twin sister, Ilyrah, during an uprising.

She is known notoriously as the Black Rose.

It’s time! All application forms for the AOEX fanzine: The Art of AoEx Cui-Zine are now open! Applications will be open from January 20 until February 28, 2024, subject to change based on the number of responses we get.
