Concrete monoliths towered above me, and far below the skywalk, oily black water shifted slowly in the darkness. I was on my way to clock into first shift and begin my duties.
As I walked the shaky skywalk of metal As I walked along the shaky metal skywalk, I heard a growl.
Something unearthly… or maybe too earthly.
I felt a need to run and so I did as fast as I could. As I rounded a corner I snuck a peek behind me… and saw the horror
A four legged insect the size of two cafeteria refrigerators skittered into view, its armored body scraping against the metal walkway… its legs had sharp blades that could rip open metal and the only other way to describe it was a horror you couldn't forget.
‘Grawwlllll’
There was another. And. It. Was. Right. Behind. Me.
Clack Clack Clack Clack
The first bug walked towards me, and looked at the bug behind me. I can only assume it was challenging the other bug…
And then-
I slammed into something hard.
The world flipped.
I was engulfed in blackness
But my eyes were open…
The water. I was in the water
Cold black water swallowed me
And a new blackness engulfed me as my eyes shut.
