Announcing Steven Universe: We Are The Crystal Gems!

Steven’s Story ended when he left Beach City to explore the oustide world. But the story of his his mother Rose, and her Crystal Gems, has yet to begin.

Steven Universe: We Are The Crystal Gems, a new series from the creators of Steven Universe, will focus on Rose Quartz and the first Crystal Gems

Creator Rebecca Sugar says:“While I knew it was time for Steven’s story to end, there was still so much of the show’s rich history that hadn’t been explored. This is something that I, and I think the fans, have wanted to explore for a long time…”

Set more than 6,000 years before Steven’s time, the show will focus on Rose (Susan Egan), Pearl (Deedee Magno) and Garnet (Estelle) as they fight back against the forces of the Diamond Society’s oppressive regime, while als exploring deeper themes such as identity, loss, love and graffiti .

On top of that fans can expect to se the story of how Amethyst (Michaela Dietz) and Bismuth (Uzo Aduba) first met Rose, further learn about the history of the Diamonds (Patti LuPone, Lisa Hannigan, Taylor Swift) and Homeworld, BDSM (Bismuth’s Deadly Shattering Machine) and what it truly means to be a Crystal Gem.

Steven Universe: We Are The Crystal Gems will debut on Cartoon Network in Fall 2020, but fans can watch an exclusive preview here

Steven Universe: The Movie airs later this year, but now we’re thrilled to bring you more information about the cast!

Thomas Sanders will play the titular role of Steven, with Meryl Streep, Naya Rivera and Scarlett Johansson, co-starring as Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl respectively, with John Mulaney, Camila Mendes, Kristen Stewart and Ariana Grande in Blackface rounding out the rest of the cast.

Rebecca sugar says: This project has been a long time in the making, and I can’t wait to introduce Steven and his friends to a whole new audience!”

Steven Universe: The Movie will debut in Fall 2019.

Do we get to see any of the name dropped gems in the next season? Will we see Morganite? Backstory on any of the "new" Crystal Gems? Does a Pyrope have cool red shades like a certain other similarly named character?
