Sorry to post shit I found on reddit but this video has been on my mind for like 3 weeks now
throughout history, the wealthy and powerful tend to create a set of rules for themselves to follow- european gentry, for example, developed specific rules for speech, dress, eating, manners, etc etc. and to some extent these rules did restrain them, but at the same time, it gave them power- by following these rules, you show your status as someone with power, both to other powerful people, and to those of lower class. certainly there were nobles who chafed under these rules, but the vast majority of them, consciously or subconsciously, accept them as the price for power, even enjoyed performing them as a status symbol. it would be ridiculous to say that the nobility was oppressed by feudialism- they wielded incredible power and freedom to use that power to hurt others, even if they had to play by a handful of rules to do so.
this post is about men.
This is just very funny to me.
Not even his robot child likes him
surprising number of idiots use Ukraine as an example of why open borders doesn't work, because if you allow people to travel freely without checkpoints between historical enemies like say Germany and France it also allows those countries to bomb each other's cities and.
Seems like Ukraine is an excellent example of how open borders is a moral necessity. When the war broke out, millions of Ukrainians fled to safety in other European countries. I think we can all see why allowing Ukrainians to escape a war zone was a moral imperative, but we don’t extend that logic to people in other countries wracked by violence.
yes, and Russians fleeing Russia should be equally welcome
I know a queer Russian. Things would be a lot nicer if they could easily immigrate to a country where LGBT people have achieved some basic freedoms, at least until Russia gets over the whole homophobia thing. There are a lot of people around the world in a similar boat!
I suggest a blanket visa exemption for homosexuality, it could save lives and the sitcom shenanigans could be hilarious
my uncle was somewhat of a rascal. we were hanging out on the roof of his barn when i was ten, and we saw some shooting stars. he told me they were angels carrying messages from god. then he handed me his old hunting rifle and taught me how to nick one out of the sky, even when it was travelling all fast like that, and how to triangulate its location — taking me out in his rusty truck down dirt roads, unerring and unceasing, until we saw that gleaming lantern. he pocketed the note from god and took me down to a pinboard where he was working on deciphering the language with his friend who was a linguistics major but got kicked out of grad school. after they shook hands, they held on for just a bit too long and i started wondering why my aunt doesn’t live with my uncle anymore, but then my uncle took me back up stairs and taught me how to fry the angel up real nice, halo and all. it was tasty
The drugs are making him paranoid. I know how to deal with this—

I am in love with you?
Movies should have more sex scenes, and in the middle of them the characters should turn to the camera and go "I'm a different kind of Communist than you are"
diet talk is so inexpressibly nonsensical the instant you know anything about "the human body" or "nutrition" or if you think about it for three seconds
"this is a great, low-calorie meal for meal prep!"
okay how do I explain this to you. "calories" is the part of food that makes it food. you actually need calories to stay alive. so "low-calorie" is the opposite of a selling point. kind of makes it sound like I'm going to be putting in a lot of time and effort just to not be nourished
"I then immediately ruined the nutrition of the broccoli by pouring cheese all over it, but, hey, I tried"
okay hang on tight because this is a tough one. I'm going to try to explain the concept of "addition" to you. so the broccoli has a certain amount of calories, vitamins, and other nutrients in it, right? and the cheese has a certain amount of calories, vitamins, and other nutrients in it. and when you add the cheese to the broccoli, well... the nutrition of the resulting food can be found by adding the contents of both of its components to each other. I hope this helps
i think about this so much
