Submission 2 of 2 for the Eyes on Final Fantasy secret collaboration project! Nearly 150 artists submitted over 200 drawings, each depicting one scene from FINAL FANTASY VII.

My scene: Safer Sephiroth’s Super Nova attack

I was happy to snatch up this extra scene that was tacked on after the official deadline, but completing it in one day while battling a cold was a challenge! The fun part of the challenge included: 1) figuring out what Safer Sephiroth’s design details were using the old blobby graphic version, Tetsuya Nomura’s concept design, and a sprite from Theatrhythm and 2) figuring out how to condense a several-minutes-long clip of a comet destroying the outer planets and smashing into the sun, causing it to expand and gobble up the inner planets and eventually the earth into a single illustration.

*The symbol in the background of both the video clip and my drawing is from The Christian Aristotelian cosmos, an engraving from Peter Apian’s Cosmographia, 1524.
