My personal head cannon for Eel is that Plastic Man is a character he plays up as being more goofy and obnoxious to help deflect from his known history as a gangster.

He’s so good at this that most JL members think he has brain damage from the acid. He also never brings up Luke or Angel until Luke gets powers.

However, he will be completely honest if you ask him a direct question. But no can tell if he’s fucking with them or not.

Random hero “ Plas, what the hell is your costume about.”

Plas (being dead serious): “ I did Ballet from ages four to fourteen. This is based off the last costume I ever performed in.” *Turns into paper airplane and glides away*

Random Hero: “ Hey Plas, what do you on your days off.”

Plas: “ Teach piano to at risk youth, but this weekend I have a meeting with my parole officer.” *he is actively moving away like a giant slinky*

Random Hero: “ Plas, why are you acting so weird.”

Plas: “ I might have an active warrant for my arrest in this country.” *Is disguised as a woman”

Some Plas panels I like for various reasons or it's Plas being very expressive/angry. Something to note about 40's Plas is his baseline behavior is really flat/normal. He's very calm, he's rather expressionless a lot of the time and I'd go so far as to say he's almost really professional. The 40's comics can be really jarring to read because you can have an entire page that looks like it's one of those grounded, serious comics and then you have Plas covering his ears with his feet. 40's Plas is a weird combo of Very Serious, Very Silly and Absolutely Terrifying.

These two aren't from the same issue.
