Starting off my challenge to make 1 zine every week until march, it’s some of my favourite baby birds!

I’m doing this challenge to try to kick my habit of overthinking and never starting stuff, though I will admit I’m posting this now on my self-appointed deadline day because I spent the whole week overthinking, gotta start somewhere I guess. Once I forced myself to just sit down and just start drawing it only took me an hour which makes me feel a bit silly

I think about rocky building the close-fitting xenonite suit a lot. I bet he did it on the long journey to Erid. It would allow him to move better, grab things in Graces atmosphere, etc. etc. But I think his favorite aspect (and the main reason he designed it) would be that he could watch Grace sleep in the way he always wanted to. Like the way he couldn't since his crew died. I think it brought him more comfort than Grace could know.

it's both compelling and frustrating how much the phm book and movie are in conversation with each other regarding The Whole Grace because you'll watch a scene in the movie and go man what the fuck is wrong with this guy and then in that exact same scene in the book it will unknowingly and with great detachment detail exactly what the fuck is wrong with this guy, and then in the book you'll get through the kind of dry prose and dialogue that it's clear andy weir was writing with a gun to his own head and wonder if you're seriously being asked to care about a reddit user with a teaching license and then movie grace will blink his big weepy blue eyes and look an an alien rock spider crab like he's realizing he wants the rest of his life to start as soon as possible and you're like fuck. fuck man.
