Alec Gillis :Unearthed these beauties the other day. Original design bust clay sculptures from Sam Ramie’s SPIDER-MAN (2002) we created in preparation for a makeup test. We went with the goggle style eyes for the test, not the exposed human eyes of the second sculpture. We did the makeup but it was deemed too lifelike, so we moved to the hard armor mask that’s in the film. There’s an online rumor that Willem Defoe refused to wear appliances because they were uncomfortable. That’s incorrect. Willem was an absolute trouper, who committed to discomfort daily in the Green Goblin costume. I, on the other hand, was completely comfortable during this shoot, if you were wondering. Both sculptures by the very talented @ryankennethpeterson
