Ah, we've entered the "fleeing to Latin America" phase of the downfall. Okay.
Anyway, I think I've progressed a fair ways beyond simply wanting to "tax" these demons.
So we're gonna be seeing a LOT of this for the next few years.
As students boo commencement speakers touting AI, and communities reject data centers, billionaires are getting nervous and angry. It's goin
A lot of rich tech folks are Mad As Hell that people are turning on AI. Despite the fact that the rich tech folks themselves have been telling us:
AI will likely put tons of us out of work
AI might end up destroying the world
Their need to advance AI (mostly To Build Data Centers rn) is more important than any needs we little people might have (not having our water supply fucked, not having noise pollution, not having utility bill spikes, etc)
They just seem stunned, STUNNED that people might be upset by ANY of that because HEY, the AI is making THEM money, isn't that a GOOD thing?
And it's not just about AI. The Bezoses have been doing press round about how they're "done" "apologizing" for their wealth and want to instead show off how great being wealthy is. Aka they're mad at people complaining they're assholes for hoarding wealth and fucking over employees. And a lot of other ultra-rich agree that we've had enough time of people being bad at the insanely wealthy and need to go back to worshiping them again.
They're getting what they wanted out of Trump and the GOP: tax cuts regulations slashed to ribbons, government contracts with next to no oversight, and getting to made trade deals with American adversaries with zero pushback from the government. They are going to fight like HELL to keep all that when Dems get back in any amount of power.
Again, one of the BIGGEST reasons the rich turned on Biden was his putting Lina Khan on the Federal Trade Commission and her blocking some corporate mergers. She ran some of the most effective FTC anti-monopoly pro-consumer enforcement IN YEARS and they never forgave Biden for it. They also hated that the Securities and Echange Comission under Biden tried to put some rules on cryptocurrencies to prevent people from being scammed (this is why they hated Gary Gensler so much).
SEC withdraws over a dozen Biden-era proposed rules including two major crypto regulations affecting DeFi protocols and custody requirements
Now Crypto gets to run free again! And people are free to lose all their life savings on it once more!
We are going to see some SERIOUS money thrown at making sure the Dems don't take back the presidency/hold any part of Congress in 2028. They want to keep all the prezzies Trump has given them.
