Drawing wall in my studio.
After visiting Chicago, this came together.
I will have plenty of work (paintings and work on paper) to see in all sizes and prices at #openstudios. Here's some fresh drawings. #cristinamuniz #kansascityart #emergingartist (at The Drugstore)
Times With You
You and I, every morning after the hustle of preparing, in the car. Stop and go driving. I’d watch as you would get out at the new stops. You were the salesman, so confident each time. In and out, in and out. I’d watch you my father, full of pride. You naturally took the role of asking and when the offer was turned down you kept going, with pride. Our situation is what led us to this. Our character grew because of it. We still had our hands, to do things. We used what little our government gave us, we survived the situation.
And yes, we have papa ranchera.
Crack of Dawn
We three wake up everyday to continue the routine that we chose to have. We chose to stand even though we fell to the ground. We were still on the ground. We stayed in motion to keep the top of our heads above this dirty water that had surrounded us all. Every morning at the crack of dawn.
Super Bowl Sunday
You never got sick, you never took a day off and you somehow always saved the day. To think of some things you taught me. Learning to fit the puzzle pieces right, reading my first book, tying my shoe laces, untangling my hair, kneading masa for tortillas, doing eye makeup.
On that Super Bowl Sunday everyone was arriving and I went to your bedroom to find you slumped down in pain.
Temple Square
Oh we loved the house at first, it was very roomy for a one story home. I especially loved the bay window makeshift bedroom garage, that was my room and my studio. I believe we loved the layout of the house so much that we ignored those dark uneasy feelings we would experience in certain areas within it. As quickly as we loved the house, we wanted nothing to do with it after we lost her.
