Her heart in her throat Lacie has to force herself not to apologize immediately. That would be going against the Candor code of truth -she’s not sorry-, and the Dauntless code of bravery. "Well I mean it’s true isn’t it?" She presses forward stupidly, waving away the old her. The part of her that wants to c o w e r.

"If you didn’t act like a heartless bastard, people wouldn’t treat you like one.”

"You think I'm a heartless bastard?" He questions, a grin present on his features.
