they all tripped and scattered papers onto the ground and no one helps them and that’s how they became villains
To be fair, Selina Kyle and Pamela Isley were straight up murdered. For all we know, Selina is a Revenant and Pamela is in a resurrective mind altered state that results in homicidal tendencies. Maybe Barbra Minerva is also in an altered state of mind due to the plot thing, and Edward Nigma had his brain turned to gush through self experimentation, so I don’t think it’s entirely a case for “I’m a clumsy nerd who gets bullied by people for being Weird so now I’m going to be evil, now.”
You’re missing the point. Especially as a self-professed writing blog, you should recognize that tropes stem from the conscious decision-making of real-life writers, not the fiction characters they choose to write.
In each of the screenshots, the writers made the decision to write each villain as a weird-hair big-glasses nerd that nobody likes, then turn them into a villain, and that is the behavior we need to examine.
Is it a fantasy? Do the writers imagine themselves as the nerds (which, knowing several film writers, they probably did feel like at multiple points in their lives), and this is them fantasizing about getting revenge on people who bullied them?
Or is it apologism? Are they showing us the people they find weird or unlikable and showing that, aha! These people were only a step away from being evil anyway, so bullying them was justified!
Or is it something else entirely?
I never interpreted the trope that way. I always identify with scattered nerd being bullied and belittled through life and finally acquiring the power to seek justice for themselves. Tragic would-be heroes if circumstances had been different and they hadn't let their trauma get the best of them. Never thought they were being demonized.

The thing about knitting is it’s much harder to fear the existential futility of all your actions while you’re doing it.
Like ok, sure, sometimes it’s hard to believe you’ve made any positive impact on the world. But it’s pretty easy to believe you’ve made a sock. Look at it. There it is. Put it on, now your foot’s warm.
Checkmate, nihilism.

Made this for my sister for Christmas. I used a cotton cord yarn which gave a nice weight. I added some extra rows and used invisible slip stitch and chainless starting stitch. For the colour changes I used BLO for the colour changes.

not to hop in on the Hottest Discourse but:
age gaps aren’t inherently bad between adults, but they are incredibly suspect in instances where one party has significantly more agency and experience due to their age. a thirty year old dating a forty year old, for instance, isn’t all that big a deal. but an eighteen year old should be VERY suspicious of a thirty year old wanting to get with them. they’ve had twelve years to establish themselves as an adult. an eighteen year old has had maybe a few months to do so.
i’m saying this as a person who briefly dated a thirty year old at age 19 (it wasn’t good lol), and also as a person with happily married parents who have a 12 year age gap. the difference is that my mom was in her thirties when she met my dad; she’d had plenty of time to find a career and a name for herself in the world.
stay safe, love urself, try to make good decisions but don’t beat yourself up if you’ve ever been the victim of an unbalanced or abusive relationship
I need yall to understand that healthy 30 year olds look at 19-year-olds and see kids. Not in a demeaning way – but in a way that automatically removes that 19-year-old from romantic consideration. And even if you “look very mature for your age,” a healthy 30 year old will learn you are 19 and back out of that crush at 90 mph no matter how good your contour game is.
