Don’t know who needs to see this, but Gem put this in her Discord regarding the charity event and shipping. Transcript for screen readers:
“Hello community!
I really don’t want to write this, but I think the fandom is in a place right now where it does need to be said. Please refrain from shipping hermits while they are in real life raising money for charity. Do not ship real people generally tbh, it’s getting very weird.
Us hermits are all friends! Friendship and friendly chemistry with each other are great things! We are going to entertain you all, and help out gamers outreach in the process. I am simply asking that you read the room, and be appropriate.
That said, I do have 2 full time mods hired for the event. They will simply ban you on sight if you break this boundary in twitch chat, or in YouTube comments and this discord.
Thank you for understanding! I can’t wait to put on a great show for you all”

Ship what you want, I guess, I’m not really all that big on hermitshipping, but keep it out of the charity event. Shipping the creators’ silly block game characters is one thing, but during a real life charity event where so much of the Hermits’ screen time will consist of their real bodies and faces, shipping does border on weird. Maybe that’s just me as an aroace person, maybe it’s basic etiquette. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
On a similar note, let’s be normal about Cleo doing their face reveal. ‘Kay? I’d say they’re being very brave about putting their face out there after being a faceless content creator for such a long time, and it’s for a good cause as well, so I’d better not see anyone being an ass about it. My friend Rat made a good post regarding that already, click here to see that.
Apologies if my tone here sounds a little snappy, I didn’t get great sleep last night. Hooray for insomnia…
