She’s sobbing openly as he comforts her. She should be the one apologizing–if she hadn’t stopped, she surely would have wounded him, mentally if not physically. Mr. Peanutbutter doesn’t deserve this, not another broken person to carry on his shoulders.

“I’m so–I’m sorry,” she repeats, chest aching with the strangled breaths she takes. “I didn’t m-mean to–I didn’t…”

Mr. Peanutbutter holds Ashi as close as he can, letting her ride out the crying as he gently rubs her back in small circles until she’s calmed down.

“It’s okay, Ashi. I’m fine. I saw what you were doing, and knew that I could get hit. But I came to make sure you alright anyway, because I care about you.”

He sighs, looking out at the busy street.

“Have I ever told you why I care about the people close to me, like Bojack, so much?”
