“You... you got me flowers?” Geralt asked, uncertainly.

“Honeysuckle have antibacterial properties and are safe to ingest,” Emhyr told him, with the air of someone reading something from a book. “You said you had a sore throat.”

“Thank you,” Geralt said, taking them in one of his sweaty hands. Emhyr had this effect on him, recently, and he wasn’t quite sure what to do about it.

Emhyr nodded once, then abruptly turned and ran back down the hill. When he asked later if they’d helped, Geralt lied and said yes. He hadn’t eaten them though, he’d carefully pressed them between two of his heaviest books.

Years later, on the day they were married, Emhyr wore a single honeysuckle bloom in his doublet, and Geralt wore them in his hair.
