When Harry's busy with staring at a blank wall, Kim observes him. Funny, he thinks, how the cycle repeats. Again, he gets partnered up with an addict. Dom was a user, too. There's a respective EdC/Suggestion check when you use Pyrholidon the first time in front of him.
He's seen it before. And he wasn't able to help him. And here he is again, uselessly witnessing it all over again. But the player can make Harry listen to Kim's gentle warnings. Harry can become better. Because Kim puts his trust in him. And Harry feels empowered by it. And he can finally start to heal, and heals Kim's trauma along with it - that Kim's words do have an effect on people, that Kim can influence and help people to change for the better. It heals him the same way it is heals Harry.
They have a huge influence on each other, because, if Harry keeps using (and in front of Kim, who's seen it all before), there's also this:
The game offers two paths with the drug abuse. Either stop using it and start the journey of recovery, taking Kim along with you, or don't stop, keep getting worse, and drag Kim down on your level.
It's a very interesting, but dangerous sort of co-dependency that can develop between these two. And it's, if you think about it, not really good if they keep continuing to work together. Yes it's our dream ending, but as fragile and damaged and traumatized as they both are, things can get so very, very wrong. And I'm not even getting started on Harry's flaw to idolize people he loves and Kim's longing for a true, deep connection. They either rise or fall together.
