While the truth’s obvious to us, as viewers of the blog, Gwyl’s just a little kid with only a small understanding of the world around him.

Having been raised by Sirocco and Muffin, he’s imprinted on them and simply assumes they’re his parents. Even now that he’s a bit older, he still hasn’t found any flaw in his logic- Muffin has white hair, Sirocco has blue skin, and, since he has both, it further reinforces his belief.

Neither Sirocco or Muffin have the heart to correct him- they know they have to tell him the truth, eventually, but they’re both at a loss as to how to go about it.

Custom designs I”m working on for various folks. That particular banette is scrapped but I kind of love it anyway. Just postin’ these in a quick dump.

The strange purple Grimm on the very bottom is $15 if anyone wants him. He was kind of an...accident, because I can’t read. You’ll get the PNG too, but please note it’s rather small, since it’s a test sketch. [I’ll update here if someone takes him.] [Edit: Babyboy got bought.]

Sometimes family is just a homicidal hatmom, a dumb dad ogre, a sparkly goblin, and a tiny human.

All of the goblins shown or mentioned on this blog so far, minus a few background characters that likely won’t appear again.

From left to right;

Mistral ; Crowned Subtype ;  The largest Grimmsnarl KashiraCorp ever produced, he used to star in televised battles alongside his trainer. Sirocco used to watch him on TV all the time and really looked up to him- to the point he even demanded a name change to fit Mistral’s aesthetic, hence him now being named Sirocco. Mistral was retired some time ago and is believed to have passed away.

Muffin ; Literally just Muffin but species swapped with Sirocco, done only through anon magic. Treated as a weird joke.

Brig ; A huge Delta subspecies Grimmsnarl that belongs to Frigga, a stylist, and Mocca’s [distant] neighbor. He’s big, bulky, and fiercely protective of his Trainer. Visits often with Mocca and Sirocco. He has a very strange accent that makes it difficult for other Pokemon to understand him.

Sirocco ; Crowned Subtype ; The idiot this blog is about. He’s a mellow, old Grimmsnarl that dotes on anything smaller than him. Adores his partner, Muffin, a rather peculiar Hatterene. Shouldn’t be underestimated, as his fighting spirit is par none.

Glenn ; The leader of a group of feral Grimmsnarl that live exclusively in the Slumbering Weald [Note, not the Glimwood]. Sirocco fights with him regularly to show him who’s boss, and to keep Glenn’s group from raiding Mocca’s house.

Mani ; The result of an Impidimp being forcefed Rare Candies by a very impatient, brutish trainer. He’s permanently stunted and small. Mocca took him in to help bring him back to health after he was found beaten and tormented in a dilapidated barn. Sirocco helped him get his confidence back, and taught him how to fight despite his tiny stature. He currently lives with a kind Wooloo rancher and helps her as an assistant.

Gwyl ; A shiny arboreal Morgrem. He believes Sirocco is his father and treats him as such. Is a little confused as to why he doesn’t have horns but doesn’t want to question it. Adores Sirocco and is generally found riding around on his shoulders.

Sirocco cannot speak in a language Mocca understands, nor does he possess the ability to properly read/write in Galarian script.

That said, he IS able to communicate with his Trainer using a specialized set of hand signals that they themselves worked out together. Mocca initially tried to teach him the Galarian equivalent of sign language, but Sirocco, as a Grimmsnarl, lacked both the necessary wrist movements and finger count needed to fully convey the language- and Mocca herself lacked the patience to learn it.

So they figured out a language on their own to help them communicate. Sirocco knows about 70 distinct signs, which, when strung together, communicate simple phrases or ideas to Mocca which she translates based on the situation they’re currently in. Sirocco’s been slowly teaching the signs to Gwyl as well, though the kid struggles a bit with them.

Muffin does use hand signals as well, following the same glossary, but she has an easier time communicating with Mocca due to being a Psychic-type Hatterene ; she can project basic images into the human’s mind when talking, making conversation a lot easier.

[Note; I don’t know ASL, nor do I pretend to. The above signs are a made up way for the characters on this blog to communicate. I apologize if any signs are offensive, as that’s not my intention.]

The Morgrem sits on the back of the couch while Mocca and Sirocco argue behind him. The Grimmsnarl is signing all manner of symbols and phrases, but the human seems to rebuff everything. The argument seems to revolve around money.

“It’s...uh.... Strange. I mean, I feel okay. My thoughts are...clearer? It’s hard to explain.”

With great effort Gwyl tries to wag his mane; his hair simply lists a bit, limp.

“...Haven’t really figured out that part, yet. I’d ask Pa but he’s been gettin’ yelled at since we came inside. I dunno how Pa can remember all those funny hand signs, but I don’t think Mocca’s listening at all.

...Maybe I should go and find Ma.”
