I need to stop replying to “how do you make friends in your 30s?” threads because all my answers boil down to “you have to want to know people instead of have friends” and I don’t think people wanna hear that

It’s like. People can tell if you don’t really like or connect with them. If you aren’t truly enamored with someone you will have a hard time coming up with activities to do together to deepen the friendship. Because you don’t really like that person that much.

#wanting to have friends instead of know people is how you end up living with people who dont actually respect u enough as a person to be #able to talk to you about things that should be minor conversations instead of letting it simmer into resentment bc you never actually care #about each other as people like that #and im guilty of it too. i was so high on Having Friends that i didnt rly consider whether these were people i was compatible with

#what really gets me is when people quote the ada at us. as if we don’t already know. bc we have a coworker with a service animal.#no we know what questions we’re allowed to ask and notice that no one asked you anything. just told you our policy that dogs aren’t #allowed in the building except service animals. we actually dont have to let everyone with a dog into the building without saying anything.#never mind the fact that us saying this does not in any way bar someone from entering the building regardless of whether it’s a service dog #or not.

#i really should not have had the particular combo of beverages (2 coffees a g&t and a mystery shot of berry flavored alcohol) that i did #today but what can you do. it was my last shift at my job that ive loved so much today had to go out w a bang #and was out ln too and didnt drink a ton but i think it set me up to fill icky today. anyway #complaints department #starism

thinking about how ursula k leguin said "what goes too long unchanged destroys itself. The forest is forever because it dies and dies and so lives" and how everyday i wake up slightly different and i can feel myself shed the skin of who i used to be slowly, slowly, until i look back and can scarcely recognise who i was... but also she is still a part of me, part of the leaf litter and the humus, supporting me as i send new roots down and new leaves stretching up to the sunlight

Everyone makes fun of the millennial overpriced burger restaurants but the worst part is that they got you hooked on some bullshit and promptly shut down because their polycule broke up or whatever. You’ll never get to eat the caramelized onion apple parmesan sex bomb burger again. And it was $23 and good.
