I won the character cards in Charlie Cochet’s birthday bash for Dexter! And look! I got them today, but I also got the cutest tote and a pin - as well as a hand-written note. Yay!
I am a happy girl right now.

Maybe I should have written that these images cannot be used without proper credit or permission.
A wee rant about research, critical thinking and how fucking done I am. This is a long post, and it is a critique. You won’t like it, I promise you that, so read at your own risk.
Oh boy. I have partly left most fandoms and only keep to reading the books and enjoying the free stuff wonderful authors throw at us. I no longer enjoy fandoms. Wars have been prominent and there is too much hate for my taste.
Leaving that aside, I have decided to use critical thinking and a little bit of research, as one author has decided to ‘attack’ another based upon alleged stolen ideas. Yes, this is AR & CC, two authors I enjoy and whose books I wait upon with longing and anticipation. Doesn’t mean I will not still critique this stuff to the fullest.
1. Copycat series. Okay. Law Enforcement in both? Check. Teams? Check. Loss of someone close to the team? Check. Kickass characters? Check. But ... those are not only for those two series. I have read both, I enjoy both, I personally never made a connection between them. Hell, I saw more similarities between SE Jakes’ Hell and High Water series and C&R than between these two, but where was the witch hunt then? And for that matter, I love SE Jakes’ books, so this is in no way an attack on her, but merely a comment on picking and choosing who you decide to bring into the fire to burn.
Other than that? CC’s series is a supernatural series with shifters and with a great deal of humour and fun for all. There is nowhere near the same amount of drama and angst which C&R displays. Again, I fail to see the depth of this so-called copycat which has been expressed against this series/author in this particular case.
2. The extra stuff. Yes, I can clearly see the similarities now they have been pointed out and I cannot begrudge AR for being saddened and discouraged about those. But every author does theirs to keep the attention of their readers and gain new ones. Neither can I begrudge CC for that.
3. The heart. Oh boy. I have seen C&R fans call CC a bitch over it. Coming from a fandom who takes pride in being above that, I find that disheartening. Yet, shall we take a trip down the archive?
The book in question from CC was published December 1, 2012. The first signs I could find of Kelly’s heart on tumblr was in 2013. Now, correct me if I am wrong about these dates, please, but this is what my research led to. As a tentative conclusion, I will say there was no stealing here of anything. Unless AR posted the heart somewhere else earlier than December 2012 and I cannot find it, no one can clander CC for using a heart on her book and calling it stealing from a well-known author.
Again, do correct me if the heart has appeared before said date, and I will happily correct myself here and remove this point. But right now, I feel it is vital.
4. This point, which will be the last, is the most important one to me personally. I have defended AR as much as the next person, I have encouraged people to vote for her in polls and what-not, and I will go to lenghts to demand justice if justice has to be served. The above points, I could ignore if I chose to, but this one I cannot.
Yet. when an author writes a post about stealing, and yet use my photo without my permission, crop it and place it in said post for a comparison, the whole argument against stealing falls to the ground and is swallowed up. You may crop my image as much as you want, but I will still recognize my own photo I have taken, and posted in a post in which I was happy and delighted. You have now demeaned that photo for your own personal agenda without asking me, if it was alright for you to use it. I find that sad, when it comes from an author who has spoken so vocally out against stealing ideas and images. Had there at least been given credit, I wouldn’t have bothered being all that angered by it.
I will still read both series and I will still enjoy them. I will still buy both paperback & ebook format because they are bloody amazing series! I will still enjoy the amazing fanart being created and the metas people put their hearts into.
But other than that, I am absolutely done.

These dudes are fucking legit. They don’t just show up one day in court, either, they actually make friends with the kids and let them know they have a support system and that there are people in the world who care about them and will always have their back. And less important, but also cool, is that the few times a couple of them have come into my cafe, they’ve been super friendly and polite and when I told one of the guys that I noticed his Bikers Against Child Abuse patch and wanted him to know how awesome I thought he was because of it, he got kind of shy and blushed and said, “The kids are the awesome ones, we just let them know they’re allowed to be brave.”
The source is long, but so, so good. These men and women are available in 36 states, 24 hours a day to stand guard at home, in court, at school, even if the child has a nightmare. Many of them are survivors of childhood abuse as well, and know what it’s like to feel scared and alone.
In court that day, the judge asked the boy, “Are you afraid?” No, the boy said.
Pipes says the judge seemed surprised, and asked, “Why not?”
The boy glanced at Pipes and the other bikers sitting in the front row, two more standing on each side of the courtroom door, and told the judge, “Because my friends are scarier than he is.”
Actual tears.. hnngh
Show me more of people like this, world. I give up on humans too easily.
where do i sign up for this,i want to be in this gang
My friend told me about this a few years ago when I really needed this. They really are the nicest people in the world and I love them!!
This is fucking amazing. It may be out of character for me to say this but rock on
Bikers Against Child Abuse was founded in 1995 by a Native American child psychologist whose ride name is Chief, when he came across a young boy who had been subjected to extreme abuse and was too afraid to leave his house. He called the boy to reach out to him, but the only thing that seemed to interest the child was Chief’s bike. Soon, some 20 bikers went to the boy’s neighborhood and were able to draw him out of his house for the first time in weeks.
Chief’s thesis was that a child who has been abused by an adult can benefit psychologically from the presence of even more intimidating adults that they know are on their side. “When we tell a child they don’t have to be afraid, they believe us,” Arizona biker Pipes told azcentral.com. “When we tell them we will be there for them, they believe us.”

More about BACA, from their site
“Consensual sex” is just sex. To say that implies that there is such a thing as “non consensual sex”, which there isn’t. That’s rape. That is what it needs to be called. There is only sex or rape. Do not teach people that rape is just another type of sex. They are two very separate events. You wouldn’t say “breathing swimming” and “non breathing swimming”, you say swimming and drowning.
Reblogging this a second time

when my family went to disney world we went on the haunted mansion ride and this actor dressed as a skeleton came up to our cart and got right in my three year old brothers face and whispered “are you scared?” and my brother kissed him on the nose and the guy laughed so hard he had to leave

y'all need to hear about gerb.
gerb was my high school physics teacher. (gerb is short for mr. gerber.) when we were learning about radiation and whatnot, and we touched on radiation poisoning, gerb decided to tell us a story.
when gerb was in high school, he worked in a supermarket. a cashier. there was this one little old lady, mrs. cassopolis, who was a regular. mrs. cassopolis firmly believed that the lasers used to scan her food items would give her radiation poisoning. they tried to explain that’s not a thing. but old cass wouldn’t hear a word of it.
the employees had to punch in every. last. grocery. item. MANUALLY.
and this woman would buy cartfulls of food every week, like any good grandma trying to feed her five children and eighteen grandchildren every time they come for a Sunday visit. so pretty soon, the employees figured out a strategy to get her on her way and get on with their lives.
one or more employees would distract old cass while the cashier would scan all the items he could as fast as humanly possible while she wasn’t paying attention.
now this supermarket had a rewards program for its most efficient workers. the computer would track how quickly the cashiers scanned items, and how many total they scanned in one day, that kind of thing. so one day, gerb’s boss came to him and said “uh,”
“you scanned three hundred items in six minutes last Tuesday during your shift” and gerb says “i recall” “that’s about four times faster than anything i’ve ever seen” and gerb says “yea ok” “jeremy what happened?”
and gerb says
“i had to save a little old woman from placebo radiation”
I don’t understand how people say mean things so easily lol like someone could have spent years learning to love themselves and you say something and take them back to square one with just a few words
I hope you read this and take it to heart

Are you happy?“ is such a difficult question. I always say yes, because I have friends, I laugh at jokes, I go out a lot and have fun. My life isn’t as bad as it could be, and I don’t have terrible problems. It could be worse. But then, one night at 3am when I’m alone, still awake, lying in bed, thinking about life I find myself crying my heart out. Suddenly I convince that nobody will ever like me. I feel horrible and I question everything I had. And I don’t know if I was ever happy at all.
