hey did you know that I DEEPLY love you and wish only the very best for you?
      Hey did you know I feel the same about you, that you are wonderful and brilliant and deserving of all goodness ever?
The queen's favorite chef was knighted Sir Loin.
     â Iâm sure he had the thyme of his life. â
presses a kiss on the nephew's forehead
     For a moment -- the fleeting space it takes to close his eyes -- An//duin remembers to breathe. He is taken back to a gilded tower in a city that stands as no more than a ruin now, a warm fire and a familiar parlor. A second home. Her voice effortless, spinning tale after tale with as much patience as the last, his chin buried in his hands.
     ( How long ago was that? Who are we now? )
     The answer, somewhere in her worried lines of her face, the storms behind her eyes, when he opens his own again: who we have to be, for now.
crownofearth:
     Wrathion groans and resists the urge to cover his face with his hand. He supposes that he did deserve that sort of response after what he said, but hearing Anduin actually return the favor seems too much. Still, his feet carry him in the direction of said heat and hopefully a warm meal.
     Not that he couldnât heat it himself. A finger of smoke curls itâs way out of his mouth, which he blows playfully away. â You know that you are talking to a black dragon, yes? I breathe fire. â
     â But I seem to recall you continue working despite my pleas to come to dinner. Or for you to set it aside for another day, â he continues. â I believe we call that insistence still. â
     âYou, a dragon? Perish the thought. No, Iâve never heard that in all my travels. Not even once.â
     Despite his often mild disposition, Anduin manages a dry tone well -- if not for the grin hinting at his teasing. Not moments later, he ducks away, leading them from the room.
     âPleading, was it? I canât say I recall.â Such a dramatic way of Wrathion phrasing it, but that only earns a chuckle from Anduin, perfectly accustomed to that about him. âAgree to disagree, then. Besides, the last one to the kitchens is in danger of losing their share of the pie.â
kirintored:
       â It â It was hard, Anduin. I had to take a step back. â Stress was a killer, mourning was an additive to it. Losing Varian was hard on the archmage and yet, she let it get the best of her. Covering it up with various other issues and just leaving the new king like that so quickly. â Would me staying in Stormwind soothe thoughts, Anduin? Would my presence here help in any way? â  She was already looking to stay, but it was always easier to hear it come from someone she considered family.
     âI understand. You donât have to explain unless youâd like to.â And certainly if she doesnât feel up to it. For now, the relief flowing over Anduin is enough, that Aunt Jaina is well and whole. âI wouldnât ask you this as a favor to me. More than anything, that decision should be based upon what you feel is best. If that happens to be here, you are welcome.â
frozenconsort:
A soft smile tugged at her lips as she knelt down in the garden, fingers tracing around the rose, not quite touching. âIâm impressed, they must like it here.â
     Anduin watches, silent for those few beats, as Sindragosaâs fingers come just shy of touch, the petals disturbed by her passing. âThat sort of resilience is something to be admired.â
crownofcourage:
    EYES DART UPWARD, catching the comet as it painted a sparkling path across the sky. â I do believe in wishes, actually. â Chun was quick to admit ; taking a moment to steal a glance at her friend. Barely containing the smile that spread across her features. â But I donât reveal them, itâs against the rules, you know.â
     A grin, wide and free, reaching his eyes, etching fine lines at the corners too rare and fleeting as days melt into weeks, months, a year. âAnd ruin a perfectly good wish? I wouldnât dream of asking you.â This? This feels like remembering to breathe again, all that ache, all that weight, gone as they think about nothing but a blanket of sky. Anduin closes his eyes, just for a moment, and wishes, too.

         When the early morning light spills through the curtains, dropping over Wrathionâs papers and, unfortunately, his face, he looks up. The scowl that crosses his face is anything but charming in the softly glowing light. He casts his red gaze towards Anduin. â It seems we were up for another rousing adventure of paperwork. When did this become part of our plans? â
     It reminds Anduin of a splash of cold water to the skin, that voice cutting through the silence. Sunset, sunrise. He doesnât notice when the candle growing dimmer and dimmer no longer changes his ability to see whatâs in front of him. âWhen it became necessary, Iâm afraid,â he admits, words somewhat roughened from disuse. Outside, the city is already alive, the song of birds and toll of the tower as it marks the hour. âThis will have to do. The couriers will be here soon. We should prepare to meet with them.â
kirintored:
       â Iâm glad to be here once more as well. â she paused, looking over at him with softened eyes, Jaina will admit to herself there is a tang of regret of leaving when The Alliance needed them the most. Â
    âI wonât presume to know why you returned or where you needed to be -- but I do hope youâll consider my offer to stay as long as you like. You were never unwelcome here.â The loss, the changes. Easy to feel helpless, angry. Easy to place the blame where it doesnât belong, on oneself or others. That Anduin had understood then as he understands it now.

    âPray forgive the intrusion.â He was disciplined and formal but the bow he gave was unlikely to match precise protocol. âIâve a gift from an ex-magister as thanks for admitting the Renâdorei to the Alliance orâŠ.some such overly grandiose and patronizing twaddle to be delivered directly to your majesty.â
  Discomfort clearly written on his face. Keeping busy was a chore but it was more than that. Trolls hadnât spoken much about Anduin. They had all had more important things to discuss. Still, Marduk had certainly heard of him. He was still young but had already proven himself as a promising leader and, more importantly, had had more than enough experience with dragons. He knew well to behave himself even without the familiar and warning voice reminding him.
    âItâs no intrusion at all. Please, step forward.â Anduin follows his own insistence, moving to meet the visitor half-way, offering a greeting gesture in return. Under different circumstances, he might declare the formality is not necessary, but itâs plain to see a sense of unease follows already.
     Even so, he canât quite help the amused curl of his mouth. Apparently, the envoy is not nearly as thrilled by the token as Anduin is. Thereâs something refreshing, lightening, in the simplicity of honesty even if somewhat ill-timed. He likes to think there is genuine gratitude lurking somewhere in this attempt to reach out, at the very least. âOh? Iâm sure the magister means well all the same. May I see this gift?â
@frozenconsort liked.
     âI didnât know how theyâd manage this far from the Isles, but I think youâll be pleased to know your roses survived. They hardly needed my help at all.â
@sindoreisisters liked.
     âMany things have changed over the past year. You know that as well as I do. But my hope for what the future of Azeroth could be isnât one of them.â
@kirintored liked.
      âI know thereâs a lot to be discussed, but I just want you to know Iâm glad you returned. Iâm glad youâre safe.â An I missed you, too, on the tip of his tongue that he holds back. He isnât sure if itâs the time, after everything, but the relief he feels seeing her again speaks for itself.
@crownofearth liked.
     âDo I smell smoke?â His eyes look this way and that, searching for the source -- fire, charring, wisps on the air. Nothing, which can only leave so many explanations. Anduin canât quite help the grin threatening to form. âIs there a problem by chance?â
@crownofcourage liked.
     âShooting star.â A hand lifts, marks the trail of cosmic embers through the night time sky. From the battlements of the Keep, the pinpoints that twinkle overhead are bright, unobstructed. âDo you believe in making wishes? I suppose this is as good a time as any to find out.â
@thuashdore liked.
     âI wasnât aware Aunt Jaina and you were so well acquainted.â Itâs a simple observation, but heâs hardly what anyone would call subtle, curiosity written plainly in the arch of his brows. âHow did you meet?â
alightbringer:
               â Is sleep not on the agenda tonight, Anduin? â Aura teased, riding up to stand next to Anduin upon horses. She knew he had trouble resting some nights, but it was rare to see him riding his horse in the streets of Stormwind, unguarded. â I do think tonight is a nice night for a ride to Goldshire, care to join? Iâm sure no one will even blink if you are gone for a few hours. âÂ
@crownofstormwind ( starter call. )Â
     Lightâs Grace appears to greet Aura and her own horse like old friends, inclining her head and scenting with a huff. Both are familiar by now, and not to his mare alone. Anduin welcomes Auraâs company on these unexpected occasions, where the cityâs security is called into question now more than ever before. âNot until matters are settled. Iâm afraid I canât join you outside the city, but I wonât turn down company here. I expect itâs going to be a long night.â
