The candle illuminated the safe house/cabin it’s been long and hard the Shaw pack have been hustled in this cabin debating wether to stay indoor or venture out into the chaos riddled Hellscape that Dahlia California has become .
Radio host : “ My name is Harold Sullivan I am stationed at the radio station at 28767 Lancaster lane “ , East of here a landmark can be spotted the glowing mic oh god they’re breaking in , anyone here’s this message please send help we have elderly and families sheltered in place with me along with some infants ( static) ( banging ) get back you freaks ( gun shots) this is Harold Sullivan signing off “
The Rage virus managed to bring the collapse of The UK and The United States Of America within 28 days , failure of containment and a single carrier of the rage virus that slipped through the airport into Dahlia California making the place Ground Zero not long till the Rage virus spilled over into Texas after a failed attempt at containment then Mexico struggled to fend off the hordes of infected yet through some miracle they contained the border decently enough once they found out infected are powerless to electric fencings still it’s only a temporary fix . All of America was flooded with horrid bodycam footage through social media of martial law and military personnel struggling to fight off the infected and quarantine zones went dark empowered or unempowered it didn’t matter so long as you had a pulse and you didn’t show signs of infection those freaks will chase you till the ends of the earth and with the Shaw pack cornered it’s apparent this infection will grow stronger not even the event dubbed lady libertys last Stand which was the nuking of New York City could stop the infected .
1 week Later the Shaw pack looked towards their alpha David Shaw looking for what to do .
Milo : “ we have to do something David look at us we are out of food out of supplies as a whole and if we don’t go out there then we’ll either go insane and kill each other or die of starvation so what will the call be ? “ Milo says worried tone eyes locked on the alpha
Asher :” Milo has a point “ Asher responded to them
Sam : “ Solaire clan has fallen you heard it from their last broadcast we are all that’s left yet it’s a gamble putting our mates at risk “ Sam responded with worry he understood Milo’s position

What if we find you killed by a group of survivors you know people out there are insane turning into a wolf ain’t saving you from a flurry of bullets or the Molotovs they utilized because if they don’t hesitate to burn and shot infected folk the they sure as hell won’t hesitate to hurt or kill yew “ Sam says with a disgruntled tone
Milo : “ well I gotta do what’s best for my mate Asher are you with me we are going to go find food and supplies “ Milo yelled out in anger as he stared at the door
Asher simply nodded no as he looked towards David who was comforting his mate who looked just as worried due to the previous first attempt at a supply run A group of men with baseball bats cornered them even with 5 warnings the bastards didn’t hesitate to smack David’s mate . Within minutes what was once a group of men now reduced to bodies with either an arm ripped off or their bats broken and stabbed into their corpses the alpha didn’t hesitate to protect his mate he wiped the blood off looking at his unconscious mate with a head wound .
David : Me and Angel have decided to go on the supply run they have a loaded shotgun ready to fire slug rounds in case some infected jerk or human tries to hurt us and as for me I have a crowbar ready to use like Asher said to me yesterday attacking shifted won’t help the virus attacks its host via fluids and I can’t risk any drops of blood entering my system or my mates”. David says to his beta Asher with certainty that things should go well
David had a gas mask on wearing leather jacket and combat boots with tactical cargo black pants matching with Angel . David stepped out and looked back at the safe house then to his mate Angel .
Angel :” I’m ready let’s protect our pack you cover me when it comes to dark buildings ok “ angel says to his mate who agreed with a silent nod
Angel has grown into a capable leader like person able to independently hold their own and has lead the pack to the safe house when David was injured with a few scraps from debris which surprised David and mesmerized him at his mates ability to take command they were running the pack like the Navy like an Alpha despite the lack of being a wolf shifter . Despite the chaos from hearing of the military doing bombings on cities across America to the one time a nuke was used he still saw his mate stay strong mentally and not wanting to give up hope .
Angel : “ ok one two three push “ Angel commanded his mate David as the two pushed a book shelf away from a locked door inside the broken down apartment complex scarred with burn marks from the bombings done across dahlia
Angel : “ haha jackpot we found supplies Davey , let’s see a whole packet of perishable canned foods from meats to beans and we have lots of first aid bandages and whiskey so that’s make shift alcohol for wounds “ Angel says to David smiling with joy for once a moment of jubilation can be felt
David : “ you are telling me I found a decent stash of pistol and shotgun ammo just enough for our duffle bags “ David says to Angel grinning with happiness
Hours past as the pair had explored neighborhoods , Apartment complexes, schools , museums etc which have been picked clean of supplies or damaged from the outbreak . The night moon shined on David and Angel they knew loud sounds would attract those infected freak bags . The two eventually had to ditch a truck they stole due to its engine completely dying on them the only luck was that the route to the safe house was only one mile away sure they would be back late but they take anything they can get even after They slept near a tree .
David : “ Who are you ? “ David asked the survivor who was pointing a gun at his head
The old man Ex military UK to be specific from the Barrett he wore the man looked like he was in deep water from his health clearly in decline the beads of sweat dripping from his forehead and a bandaged side round hole likely a bullet would from a previous encounter with survivors.
Survivor : “ Why the bloody Hell are you near my camp site huh who sent you , Finn bring this man their little friend let’s get some answers from these trespassers “ the man yelled barking orders
David : “ we didn’t know this was your camp site we simply want to get back to our safe house “ David says his demeanor calm his old way of demeanor more mean and rugged gone and replaced with more compassion turned soft as some would say due to Angel yet he would never hate his heart having grown
hours past with David being left with a head covered in bruises and leg injured with a knife stab to it a dumb choice when he tried to kick his way out since the torture the hardened and insane ex soldier put him through just to get information out of him .
Angel : “ hey you old fuck leave him alone “ angel yelled as the statement was met with a punch to David’s face a bloody nose
Survivor : “ you filthy mutt talk where is your safe house I know you have supplies or ammo something “ the old man demanded information from David the old man burnt the gas mask of David and Angel
Finn : “ Oi we have ammo inside the duffle bags and canned food let’s kill them and grab the bags and go “ the skinny man replied to the old man
Angel : “ no you won’t be going anywhere “ Angel says as they broke out of the ropes that held them tied up and angel now shirtless and exposed looked at David
Angel grabbed the shotgun and bashed the old man’s legs causing him to fall down and misfire his Assault Rifle A burst of bullets hitting a tree and the sound echoed off into the air . Minutes of fighting went on as David whose hands were tied up could only look and watch He saw Angel managed to punched and knock out Finn the right hand man of the soldier then his demise was quick and swift his brains splattered on the floor from the shotgun blast. The soldier looked at Angel pinning them to the ground trying to choke em out till the old man’s nose was scratched and gut kicked in which gave room for Angel to escape which they did they shot their shotgun only to be met with a Loud click shit of course it was empty Angel smacked the gun at the old man the attempt was blocked and the gun thrown aside Angel looked for a weak point and tackled the old man punching him in the face till their own fist bleed not long after they untied David . The screams of two infected rang out the sound of leaves crunching and footsteps growing closer and louder .
Angel pushed back the infected lady away from them as David kicked the infected Teen in the face he held back the scrawny rage infected kid back till he found an opening and swiftly snapped the infected neck after putting them in a headlock He looked to Angel who utilized their knife stabbing the infected woman in the head . David’s eyes widened it can’t be his mate got infected a scratch mark on the leg his mate looked at him .
Angel : “ Fuck no noo it wasn’t supposed to go down like this “ angel said to themselves as they dropped their weapon and backed away from David
David : “ Angel wait I can’t leave without you “ David pleaded eyes starting to water up
Angel : “ no get away please stay back I don’t wanna hurt you “ Angel says as they stumbled a bit panicking internally on what to do till they grabbed their knife trying to point it at their throat and take the easy way out before their fingers lost grip
The screams of infected rang out three more to be precise as David saw them at the distance far but still close enough to be a threat . Angel got infected trying to protect their mate and they’d be damned if they don’t save David from the incoming infected .
Angel : “ leave damnit leave you fool Ahhh “ Angel screamed at David as they’re body twitched and jerked with the infection taking hold
David : “ I can’t “ David said in response to which his mate shoved him away it didn’t work till they kicked involuntary at him before yelling
Angel : “ ahhh Davey run run ahh nowww I love you please escape for me “ Angel growled as they started to cough up and vomit blood the twitches and jerks growing more intense
the three infected zombies started to get closer angel still battling the rage virus grabbed their shotgun taking a shotgun shell that was on the ground clumsily loading it and running towards the three infected and firing a shot it was a distraction to buy David time .
Angel : “ grrr ahhh come get me you blood hungry bastards “ Angel yelled as they ran into the infected directions Their own body jerking they had gave David their ring
David ran with both the rings in his pockets and carrying the duffle bag and looking at the wedding ring he lost his mate he can’t lose the rest of his pack if getting these supplies was all he could it’s what will be done he knows if Angel was the one alive and David was infected that Angel would do anything to get back to safety and protect the pack . He heard the screams from his mate getting eaten alive a fate just as painful as ending up another infected person sprinting across the woods the little time they had to resist proved to be worth it the distraction worked within the mile being walked David was back home at the safe house .
David : “ take the supplies “ David says to his beta Asher as he fell on the man’s shoulders weeping with anger and sorrow unable to hold his emotions in he let it out
David : “ those things took Angel “ he says to Asher
David : “ Angel died protecting me from two guys that tortured me for info on the safe house and yeah Angel fought them off just for them infected to ambush us and scratch them , my Angel they are gone “ David says to Asher angry tone now more than sad he punched his mates shoulder gripping it
Asher : “ Milo , Sweetheart, Babe , Sam , Darlin , Marie put the supplies up I’ll handle David “ the beta said while trying to hold in his own tears seeing his best friend so wrecked
Minutes later Marie and Sam had used magic to heal David’s head wound they knew the emotional damage won’t be fixed or healed easily . Sam looked at David taking a sigh after he hugged them and got ready to say something.
Sam : “ Angel was a good mate a good leader and they knew you would have done the same for them and they would make sure you lived and got back to safety come Hell or high water “. Sam says to David with serious tone and respect for the fact Angel did what not many would have done And yes a life was lost to saves other one that life saved being David’s .
Darlin : “ come here listen up your our alpha you survived and you still have us and I’ll bash through any infected or humans skulls that dare to harm you or anyone in this pack “ Darlin says to David their tone full of sincerity
Asher : “ I’ll go with Sam to retrieve whatever’s left of Angel and give them a proper burial “. Asher says to his alpha
David : “ yeah that sounds like a plan just give me time to compose myself “ David says to Asher
Sam : “ it’s what Angel always told us if anything happened at least ensured they get a proper burial and to never stop surviving to keep living for them “ Sam says to David which was true
David vowed to stay strong for his mate he can’t afford to lose more people on his life with a sigh and a clear as day wolf growl that left him the man looked at Asher and his pack getting his bearings
David : ( sniffles ) Angel would want us to keep fighting so from now on we will ensure this safe house has a fence and reinforced perimeter along with a more defense approach don’t let no one no infected no person through the gates into the safe house not unless we know the survivors out there are friendly “ David says as he vowed to help the needy as Angel did just with more precautions now
28 months later the Shaw pack safe house nestled within the woods was now a full on fortress David had healed more head full of grey hairs from the impact the loss had on him survivors some shifters some humans that were friendly came and went as for hostile forces the only thing left were corpses now halfway bones in the grass with dirty and rusted up weapons and blades on the grass telling of past battle and the Shaw packs stronger defense . The pack alpha looked out into the horizon the distant city echoed with gun shots and image of smoke from campfires or burning buildings he stood at the outpost ready for anything this apocalypse threw at him .
