USA v BRA

Wow.

PINOE. PRESS. ERTZ. O’HARA. Those are the girls that made a difference tonight : the queens are back (well, not really, because they were never gone).

I thought Dahlkemper had an off day - probably the nerves and not having Becky next to her - but you know what ? I’ll forgive her for that because 1) we all have some, especially in soccer and 2) she’s been killing it so far. Same goes to Naeher.

SAM MEWIS. Oh my goodness, I wasn’t a fan of hers when I first saw her play, but damn what an improvement. Hat down.

I almost cried at the end, to be honest, because seeing them so happy to win means something : now that the game is becoming more and more popular, supported and so on, the teams are becoming better. The US knows that really well.

When you saw them after that final whistle, it reminded me of the World Cup. You could see how much it meant to them, as a team and unit. Their love for the game has shown, and that’s something I haven’t seen since the World Cup finale two years ago.

So well done ladies, on to the next !

USA v AUS

Alyssa Naeher deserves the number one spot.

T. Smith and Dahlkemper are very impressive rookies (Taylor with those runs across the field and Abby with the many clearances and good tackles)

Sam Mewis is becoming one of the best players.

Allie Long’s passes accuracy is weaker than in the league, but her calm and composure on the ball is impressive.

Lindsey Horan is as good in the attack than in the midfield (back in PSG she proved that)

Christen Press needs to get involved more because when she does, she’s a threat.

Megan Rapinoe is back.

Overall : once the defense gets sharper in the box (they could’ve prevented the goal, even though it was well-timed), and that they turn occasions into goals, the team will get some wins. I think it was a good performance and that the two teams were pretty much on the same level.

Next game against Brazil will be interesting.
