Do you think the others would ever get concerned about Laura Lee's fixation on Being Good and Following The Rules? I've seen some people theorise that she has religious OCD and am curious as to how you would interpret it in your timeline

As someone who struggles with Moral OCD myself - I think in canon it’s pretty fair to suggest Laura Lee could have religious OCD specifically in relation to the pool scene and the scene where she believes it’s her fault the plane crashed.

As far as in the safe and sound timeline - I think Laura Lee would gravitate to a more general moral OCD as opposed to religious OCD specifically. This is because in my timeline when Laura Lee survives the second plane crash and when she experiences Lottie’s belief in the wilderness - it really readjusts her own faith into a more healthier space and into something which guides her instead of controlling her. However I do think that she can still be very strict about being good and following the rules - which isn’t bad inherently, but the others may notice after a while that she’s deeply obsessive over it. And, after a bit of prying it’s become apparent that what seems like being “good” is actually Laura Lee doing compulsions. This is especially clear every time she is lightly reprimanded or corrected and she has a complete panic attack. They’d definitely make sure to get her to a therapist who specialises in OCD.

⧽ having to search out for cute compressions socks and braces that aren't super duper expensive

⧽ always regressing in bed or on the floor because both being tired and regression clumsiness + fall risk

⧽ salty salty snacks

⧽ electrolyte sippies instead of juice

⧽ being grumpy because you want to play, but your body says no

⧽ making your stuffies have the same symptoms as you and treating them nicely

⧽ always always being thirsty or ignoring it. your cup is always either full for hours or gone in seconds

⧽ being a wiggle worm because something aches in any position

⧽ lots and lots of pillows ans stuffies in bed

⧽ fussing through having to check your vitals or sit for a while so you dont flare up

⧽ getting comfy in bed and realizing you forgot your meds

being late diagnosed with autism and adhd can be so devastating. The average age for both diagnoses is around the age of 6. And while I know, for a girl, 18 isn’t shocking, it’s still so much of my life that I spent without my needs being met. I’m always thinking about how it could have been if someone noticed earlier. If instead of being labeled as quiet and strange and different - I could have just known the truth. Instead of turning to self harm I could have been given adequate, safe, sensory input. My safe foods wouldn’t have been labeled “picky eating”. If I received the medications and tools I needed I could’ve been on a more equal playing field to my school peers and I wouldn’t have spent 13 years working myself to exhaustion just to be average. Every panic attack I had when a teacher gave me feedback woukd have been understood as RSD. Therapy specialised for my disorders could have prevented how much I grew up to despise myself for not fitting in. My parents could have known I wasn’t defiant and misbehaved - I was just stuck in a system that worked against me. There could have been help and understanding and patience instead of neglect, anger and burnout.

laura lee has been mentioned twice in the dolls post, I think its only right we see her dolls ( pretty please)

Sweet Laura Lee is the biggest lover of the doll’s books! She never had dolls growing up. In the pilot Laura Lee’s room is very minimalistic, which leads me to believe her family was big on prioritising religion over material possessions. While Laura Lee carries this with her - she does learn, in the wilderness, what it’s like to truly have nothing - miserable. She starts off just helping Jackie tidy up and sew clothes for her Kirsten doll. Then Laura Lee meets Addy Walker. She’s one of Lottie’s childhood dolls, who sit in a neat line across her dresser. Laura Lee had certainly seen the dolls before - even brought them down for a slightly older feeling Lottie to dress up and play with. But for the most part they haven’t been of much interest to her. That is until one day Laura Lee is regressed and bored. She’s read almost every kid-friendly book in the house and Tai says can’t take them to the library until she’s finished her uni assignment. Lottie mentions she has all her doll books in her room somewhere and brings them out for Laura Lee. She picks out Addy’s books - and reads all seven of the ones released at the time in one afternoon. She’s in love with Addy and Lottie is more than happy to officially allow Laura Lee to adopt her doll. Lottie also gave her Addy’s nightgown.

Laura Lee then falls in love with sewing outfits for her own doll. So many dresses and fun costumes are made for Addy! A few years later she gets just like you 21 and Kit’s birthday outfit!

I know nothing about yj, so I don't even know if Van would have dolls aha. I really like your posts about them though!

I don’t imagine Van ever had an Ag doll growing up - her mum wasn’t going to spend that much money on a toy when she could spend it on absolutely anything else (alcohol). So Van grows very indifferent to the dolls of the other regressors. She’s never given them much thought and they are super girly so she wouldn’t want to play with them anyway. That is until they end up in an American girl doll store in late 2001. It’s on a trip to Chicago, to see a specialist about some of her face scarring. Tai came and Shauna and Jackie for some extra support and company. Jackie is regressed and they end up at one of the only in person American girl stores at the time. Jackie is ecstatic and Van is begrudgingly following her around - waiting to go to the much cooler DVD store across the street. That’s when she meets Lindsey, the doll of the year. Lindsey looks cool and Not too girlie like the dolls at home. She also has a scooter and a computer which to Van is so insanely cool that she doesn’t even care Lindsey has a dog. So cool that Van can’t tear her eyes away. Tai notices - and after some gentle coaxing, Van admits she does sorta really badly want her. Eventually Van also gets the Skateboard Outfit and the go team USA soccer outfit. Laura Lee always helps her see doll clothes that feel more “Van” than the other dolls have!

Teen-sis!Lottie Matthews' bedroom (not birthday related but oh well!!)

I think big sister!Lottie doesn't often come out unless she's in a good place with her mental health, but when she does appear she is so, so loved. She likes to make light-catchers with the little ones, bake in the middle of the night, and collect tamagotchis that she never keeps alive.

She's so incredibly protective of her baby siblings, and wants them all to know how special they are. She gives me the vibes of the song 'Light' by Sleeping At Last.

Jackie Taylor’s American Girls 💚

As an Australian who doesn’t have five billion dollars to spend on shipping but spends a lot of time looking at AG doll clothes for my dolls… the yjs are getting my dreams today

So Jackie’s childhood doll would almost certainly have been Kirsten - she adored her doll, and played with her till her limbs became loose and her parents told her she was too old for dolls. Kirsten went into the back of her wardrobe and stayed there until Jackie fished her out post rescue. Tai manages to fix up her limbs and Laura Lee helped Jackie brush the tangles out of her hair - Jackie is ecstatic. The next doll Jackie would get is the Just Like You 12 - she’d be a Christmas present when the others realise how much Jackie adores her dolls. She names her Princess Jax - Princess Jax always wears a tiara but never ever wears a dress. Kit is next - Jackie falls in love with her and her story. She absolutely gets obsessed with playing Journalist to be just like Kit!

She has so many sets!! Spoilt rotten as a child she had most of Kirsten’s sets - though her favourites were her midsummer dress and her bedtime collection. Alongside her truly me doll Jackie received the Red Vinyl Jumper outfit, the 98 birthday outfit and the Soccer set. For Kit, Jackie’s favourites are her play dress and her typewriter set. She has other clothes and sets - plus plenty hand made by herself and Laura Lee!!
