Things to do if youâre stuck at home because of Coronavirus (for teens!)
Pick up a new hobby like knitting! You can buy materials online if needed, and itâs always good to do something with your hands.
Cook (if you have ingredients or are allowed to)
Play video games if you have access to a computer.
Use Hoopla and Overdrive to get free books, audiobooks, movies and music from your local library!
Write a story
If you need to get food and your school is shut down, some schools will provide free food to middle and high school students! You can also check your local library for childcare or food, if they provide it (San Francisco does)
Binge a series
FaceTime your friends
Learn how to play D&D, it passes time really well and itâs super easy to learn! You basically need nothing except dice or a number randomizer, and paper. You can find PDFs of all the books online for free, and use sites like dungeonmastersvault or dndbeyond to make characters. Plus, you can play over discord.
Play board games.
Work out, and get strong!
Use quizlet for studying, and apps like Mathway and Photomath can help you with tricky math problems.
Call someone that you care about who you donât talk to much.
Dye your hair
Do some extra chores to make money for when this is all over
Learn an instrument (if you have any around the house)
Sleep and take care of yourself!
Listen to a podcast. My personal favorites are mischief managed, the adventure zone, and the NoSleep podcast!
If you like musical theater, you can watch free musicals by team starkid on YouTube.
Do a spa day!
Overthrow the government!
Tear a corrupt copâs throat out with your teeth!
Go feral!
Start a revolution!
We can get through this together â¤ď¸

The lobsters scream when you put them in the pot. You tell yourself itâs just the steam escaping the shells. Their eyes are clear when you put them on the plates. You pretend not to see, and suck the meat out of their little crunchy legs.Â
There are tracks in the fresh snow across your lawn. Even though Uncle Robin taught you tracks before you could make tracks of your own, you donât recognize these.Â
Everyone at the farmerâs market knows your name. You have never been to this farmerâs market. The potatoes have too many eyes, and they watch you walk by.Â
You never thought youâd hope itâs only a moose outside at night.Â

People donât go near the barn on the old Michaud place, even though itâs been abandoned for years. Something about it being condemned, and not by the government.Â
Something keeps bobbing up in the bay, bright red. Itâs too big to be a buoy. No oneâs claimed it.
The trees on Schoodic are shifting. We havenât had a stiff breeze for days.
You canât read the name of that new fishing boat. Everyone tells you something different when you ask.
The painted tracks to the UMaine stadium are red. Weird, theyâve been blue for decades. You havenât heard anything about a hockey game tonight either.
I-95 just keeps going. And going. And going. Itâs getting dark. What mile marker are we at again?
It hasnât gone above zero in a month. The wind and snow get through the windows and under the door, even though you had the house winterproofed in the fall. You donât remember what itâs like to be warm, even next to the wood stove. You donât recall lighting it, now you think on it.Â
The blackflies are thick as fog. They are in your eyes, in your ears, your mouth, your nose. You feel faint from blood loss. They are under your clothes.

thousands of island dot the coast line, unfound and unknown. so many that people are unsure which are real and which arenât. Aunt Sarahâs Ledge, Deadman Point, Pound of Tea and Poverty Nub. and the 26 all named Bar. boats blow past them in the night and thereâs no sound on the radio. just static.
old men, hands as rough as rope, toil endlessly on piers. night after night, their boats docked in the inky water, they hum an ancient tune and grin at the sea as if theyâve seen itâs worst and they know that while nature is cruel men will always be crueler.
people say the devil burns hot. up north they say other wise. they say the devil is the open woods, freezing and laughing as you load your rifle with another round. but you canât shoot darkness, kid. thereâs nothing there.Â
the paper mill is closed. the paper mill is starting up every morning in the same way, the sound of machines whirring to life and the march of footsteps. you throw a rock at a window and pretend you donât hear shouts when it shatters the glass. the water wheel turns and the paper mill is closed.
witches donât die. they take classes at the university, 13 members of the occult, class of â79. they stain grave stones, with feet and hearts, the only parts of the girls that didnât burn. witches donât die, not here anyway. they roam the graveyard at night and run surprisingly seamless websites.Â
there are no billboards in maine. no âhell is realâ, no âjesus savesâ. so people make do. they paint it on barn sides and picket signs. they scream it from the mountain tops and sear it into your heart. they feel it in their gut, late at night and later still, when the church two towns over burns down and you swear you can still smell the smoke.Â
thereâs a one stoplight town with a grocery store and a gas station that kisses the canadian border. people stare at you as you drive by. youâre from around here. they know that, they can tell by your skin and teeth and smile. from around here, but not from here. not here, not here, for the love of god, not here.Â
thereâs a car stalled on the I-95. a neon diner sign, never turned off. an old bean factory, a rusted bridge and schoolhouse that hasnât seen a childâs face in ages. thereâs a feeling of belonging, of shells between your fingers and of fear. thereâs a signal on channel 6, but no pictures. just static.Â

Inktober day 22 - Ghost
The ghost at the top of the old lighthouse, watching over the ships and wondering if someone will come to keep him company.
Been wanting to draw a lighthouse for a while too!XD
come away, o human child! to the waters and the wild with a faery, hand in hand, for the worldâs more full of weeping than you can understand.
- wb yeats
God I just want to be an old man in a lighthouse kept company by a cold cup of tea I forgot to drink and the possible spirits of the light keepers of yore, waiting for my dirty, beautiful old fisherman husband to come home so we can hold each other in our small little cottage bedroom while the cold air leaks through to cracks and the rain attacks the windows and sweeps the tides around us
