15 more ideas for your BOS!
Since our last list went down so well, we thought we would put our heads together and think of 15 more ideas for your book!
Letâs get started, in no particular order:
1.      Something to protect your book, I canât believe this was not on our previous list! Bless your book/protective sigils, something to protect from wandering or prying eyes.
2.      Update your path page (if you have one, or start one) basically saying what your path is, and what is important to you â know this was in the other list, but we believe our practice changes from one year to the next so keep it updated.
3.      Do you have an altar? If so how about a section dedicated to it? How you set it up for ritual, for each sabbat/season (if it changes), life events, for offerings! Keep all that info together, and add pictures and photos.
4.      An ancestor page, where are your ancestors from? Is there anyone you would like to honour? Anyone who has really shaped who you are as a person? Write about them.
5.      Familiars, do you have one? What do you know about them? Have you had one in the past? Write about it.
6.      Tools. Write a list of the tools that are in your practice and how you use them, keep it updated.
7.      Rites/rituals/blessings/recipes that mean something to you and your practice, or ones that you have done, and how they went.
8.      A list of any active charges, wards, sigils that you have running at the moment.
9.      How you meditate
10.  How you ground yourself
11.  How you centre yourself
12.  How you create a sigil
13.  Have you had experience with spirits, done any spirit work? Write about it?
14.  Have you got experience with binding? Or banishing? Write about them.
15.  Draw/paint/be creative.
16.  Bonus! Have you picked up any witchy life hacks? Or little witchy tips? Write them all down in one place.
amie.
Whether you use a physical book, a binder, or a digital documents folder, sometimes it can be hard to think of what to put into your Grimoire or Book of Shadows.
If youâre just starting your book, thereâs lots of ideas you can include as the foundations of your work! What are they?
Contents Page
For the most organised individuals, it may be handy to keep a contents page going. Leave about three or four pages spare at the beginning to write in where to find certain content. After these four, number your pages!
About You
This could be one page or a few pages. You can include your favourite crystals or herbs, tarot cards you relate to, or why you came to witchcraft! You could also write about what it is you wish to gain or learn in your studies.
Correspondence Pages
These you can add more of any time in your book, but itâs a good idea to stay on top of this content. I tend to keep mine in digital format as opposed to my actual grimoire now because I ran out of time to record all my resources. This can be herbs you commonly use, crystals you own, etc. Write down what correspondences they have! Note if theyâre water or sun safe for crystals, and if theyâre edible for herbs.
Research
Whether itâs on what you use or who you work with, note down some interesting things you learn on the way, or why youâre drawn to them! Here you can even begin to record things you have learnt through divination, perhaps.
With those basics done, then what can you learn and put into your book? Thereâs honestly so many areas to study I wonât be able to go through all of them, but hereâs some ideas!
Astrology
Numerology
Angel numbers
Cultural traditions youâre a part of
Knot magic
Tea magic
Herbal remedies
The history of crystals and their meanings
Historical eras you feel connected to
Local folklore
Local natural resources
Legends and âmythicalâ creatures in magic (research on the fae!)
Different sigil methods
Types of spells
Common spell ingredients and why theyâre used
Historical witch resources
Your own family tree and what it shows
Tarot spreads
Lunar phases
Astrological phases
Dream recording or symbolism
Animal symbolism and meaning
You can also use your book as a planner for when to do spells or a way of keeping notes on what happened after a spell. I would personally buy a diary planner for this work as well as astrological planning.
Now, whilst all these ideas are commonly known, I have some less thought of ideas also for you all.
Music You Resonate With
What songs inspire you to feel a certain way? Write about them! You can use them to invoke certain intents in the future, or look out for them as meanings to certain signs.
Manifestation Pages
These can be painted with herbs or colours corresponding to what you want to manifest and then be written on with chants, poetry or letters or the universe! Itâll be just like an extra creative diary.
A Moon Phase Emotion Diary
This will be better in a planner, but write down the moon phase and sign and then track how you felt that day. This can help you work out when to plan future spells or magical activities, or best prepare for days you donât always feel of sorts.
Dream Plans and Goals
Design your dreams! This is a form of manifestation! Plot out how youâd have your garden, or what herbs youâd plant on your dream allotment. Commit to these goals by lovingly writing about them in your book and maybe one day theyâll happen.
Original Character Creation
Do you write about witchy or occult figures? Maybe you design fae? Include them in your book! Write about what colours and plants they relate to and how that affects their personality, or what beings they best get along with.
When it comes to your Grimoire or Book of Shadows, itâs all about you and the path youâre coming to know. You donât need to write about what others label themselves as or do, or what herbs youâll never use mean, unless you feel that research helps your perspective, obviously. What really matters is that this book is about your own orbit and how you can use that in a knowledgeable and respectful way, whilst also having fun with your craft!
Things to put in your Grimoire/Book of Shadows
đherbs and plants that you find and want to learn more on! sketch it down and research it later
đfavorite constellations and/or moon phases, or your favorite season and weather!
đa playlist of songs that give you motivation/make you feel more energy. ill post mine later as an example
đcrystals and how youâve used them the most
đwhat kind of things your favorite food/beverage does for you! (mine? its coffee)
đmake a list of supplies you need to stock up on/want to try out so you dont forget!
đmake a list of different books other wiccans and witches have recommended to you
đjolt down different myths and folk tales from your area, or record your personal favorite ones
đdoodles!! doo! dles!!
đwrite down some histories of your heritage and ancestors! (i personally dont know who my ancestors are, but im norse, so thats what i go by!)
đwrite down some runes and/or ancient sigils from your heritage!
đmake a list of magickal creatures and theyre abilities (mermaids, faeries, nymphs, etc.) and how to treat them if ever in contact with one
đtape or glue in pictures/polaroids of your favorite plants and theyre properties
đmake a list of different destinations around the world you wish to visit and theyre folk tales and myths!
đa book of shadows doesnt have to be treated like a magickal textbook! put some feeling and creativity into it to make it your own and to make it inspirational and fun!
Grimoire/book of Shadows decoration ideas and ideas of what to put in them:
I struggle sometimes with what to write in my grimoire, so I thought Iâd write a list to help myself and others :) and even though I keep my personal grimoire plain on the covers, I will include decoration ideas because not all people want theirs plain, and the decoration could also be for the inner pages :)
Decoration:
đ paint the covers a colour or pattern that gives you energy
đ a picture collage
đ a pressed flower and leaf collage
đ draw sigils, which are practical as well as pretty
đ draw a pendulum or ouija board in your book, which is also functional as well as decorative
đ washi tape borders, book marks and page keys!
đ when writing in your grimoire, you can separate bits of information in boxes. Using coloured pens/pencils or patterned lines looks nice :)
đ carefully paint the edges of the pages. I like it when this is done with metallic paint but the colour is a personal choice :)
Content ideas
âš write a list of trees, types of animals, flowers etc that you feel a connection to if you think nature is important to your craft
âš you could also do a list of objects in general
âš write magical recipes that you like into your grimoire and what properties you feel the finished product has
âš a list of your crystals and stones and what vibe they give off, and their properties
âš write about solstices if you follow them
âš when you do a spell, I recommend writing down your method and what result you got, for future reference. This way you can repeat the spell easily and it can be tweaked if necessary :)
âš write about deities you have a connection to, if any
âš write about your familiar if you have one
âš If you feel drawn to a certain type of animal, you could write about what animal you have this feeling towards. It may be worth looking into getting one if your situation allows it! I believe that the animal I feel drawn to (more so after practicing witchcraft for a while!) could be a future familiar for me. For example you could write about how to care for them, whether they have any magical connotations, and name ideas if you think youâll get one! :)
âš tarot card spreads
âš results of tarot/pendulum/ouija sessions
âša list of sigils so you can remember them (they donât have to be activated if theyâre just for reference)
âš if you feel drawn to a particular tarot card or one of your pendulums (if you donât have multiple pendulums thatâs fine! You could write about the one you have) write about it and how it makes you feel
âš magical correspondences of herbs
âš general information about the path you follow (or if you are eclectic, parts of each type that interests you :))
Obviously there is way more to write about and way more decoration ideas! Feel free to reblog and add ideas if you have any!!

Palmistry
đ đ đ đ
*sorry I only did one minor line (marriage line)*
Palms
* For females, the right hand is what you're born with, and left is what you've accumulated throughout your life.
* For males, The left hand is what you're born with, and the right is what you've accumulated throughout your life.
* Another way would be you can choose whichever hand is dominant to be your present/past life hand (the non-dominant hand would then be your future life hand)
* Earth - broad, square palms and fingers, thick or coarse skin, and ruddy color; length of the palm equals length of fingers
* Solid values and energy, sometimes stubborn
* Practical and responsible, sometimes materialistic
* Work with their hands, comfortable with the tangible
* Air - square or rectangular palms with long fingers and sometimes protruding knuckles, low-set thumbs, and dry skin; length of the palm less than length of fingers
* Sociable, talkative and witty
* Can be shallow, spiteful and cold
* Comfortable with the mental and the intangible
* Does things in different and radical ways
* Water - long, sometimes oval-shaped palm, with long, flexible, conical fingers; length of the palm equals the length of fingers but is less than the width across the widest part of the palm.
* Creative, perceptive and sympathetic
* Can be moody, emotional and inhibited
* Introverts
* Do things quietly and intuitively.
* Fire - square or rectangular palm, flushed or pink skin, and shorter fingers; length of the palm is greater than length of fingers
* Spontaneous, enthusiastic and optimistic
* Sometimes egoistic, impulsive and insensitive
* Extroverts
* Do things boldly and instinctively.
Hand Mounts
* That's what the fleshy bit below your fingers are called, on the opposite side of your knuckle.
* To make them visible, cup your hand just a bit.
* A high Venus mount (the one under your thumb) indicates a predisposition for hedonism, promiscuity, and the need for instant gratification. A non-existent Venus mount indicates little interest in family matters.
* The mount under your index finger is called the Jupiter mount. If this is well-developed, it means you are dominant, possibly self-centered, and aggressive. A lack of one means you lack confidence.
* Under your middle finger is the Saturn mount. A high mount shows you're stubborn, cynical, and prone to depression. If it is low, it's an indicator of superficiality and disorganization.
* The Sun mount is under your ring finger. You're quick-tempered, extravagant, and prideful if you have a high Sun mount. A low Sun mount means you lack imagination.
* The Mercury mount is under your pinkie. If it's protruding, you talk too much. A low mount means the opposite -- you're shy.
Heart Line
* This line can be read in either direction (from the pinkie finger to the index finger or vice versa) depending on the tradition being followed.
* It's believed to indicate emotional stability, romantic perspectives, depression, and cardiac health.
* Begins below the index finger - content with love life
* Begins below the middle finger - selfish when it comes to love
* Begins in the middle - falls in love easily
* Straight and short - less interest in romance
* Touches life line - heart is broken easily
* Not Present- ruled by logic instead of emotion.
* Present at the fate line- Consumed by others
* Long and curvy - freely expresses emotions and feelings
* Straight and parallel to the head line - good handle on emotions
* Wavy - many relationships and lovers, absence of serious relationships
* Circle on the line - sadness or depression
* Broken line - emotional trauma
* Smaller lines crossing through heart line - emotional trauma
Head Line
* This represents a person's learning style, communication approach, intellectualism, and thirst for knowledge.
* A curved line is associated with creativity and spontaneity, while a straight line is linked with practicality and a structured approach.
* Short line - prefers physical achievements over mental ones
* Curved, sloping line - creativity
* Separated from life line - adventure, enthusiasm for life
* Wavy line - short attention span
* Deep, long line - thinking is clear and focused
* Straight line - thinks realistically
* Donuts or cross in head line - emotional crisis
* Broken head line - inconsistencies in thought
* Multiple crosses through head line - momentous decisions
* If the head line is not there, it indicates a sluggish person.
* A faint line indicates the person lacks concentration and memory.
* A deep line represents good memory and concentration.
* If the head line begins at the life line, this indicates the person is strong-willed.
* A head line that is separate from the life line indicates an individual who has a strong sense of enthusiasm and adventure for life.
Life Line
* This begins near the thumb and travels in an arc towards the wrist. It reflects physical health, general well-being, and major life changes (for example, cataclysmic events, physical injuries, and relocation).
* Its length is not associated with length of life.
* Runs close to thumb - often tired
* Curvy - plenty of energy
* Long, deep - vitality
* Short and shallow - manipulated by others
* Swoops around in a semicircle - strength, and enthusiasm
* Straight and close to the edge of the palm - cautious when it comes to relationships
* Multiple life lines - extra vitality
* Circle in line indicates - hospitalized or injured
* Break - sudden change in lifestyle
Fate Line
* This is also known as the line of destiny, and it indicates the degree to which a person's life is affected by external circumstances beyond their control.
* It begins at the base of the palm.
* Deep line - strongly controlled by fate
* Breaks and changes of direction - prone to many changes in life from external forces
* Starts joined to life line - self-made individual; develops aspirations early on
* Joins with the life line around in the middle - signifies a point at which one's interests must be surrendered to those of others
* Starts at base of the thumb and crosses life line - support offered by family and friends.
Marriage Line
* mainly reflects the situation of your marriage life, love relationship, marriage time as well as your attitude towards love.
* It is located below the base of the little finger just above the heart line
* A straight long marriage line indicates deep and long love.
* If your marriage line is short, it indicates passionless to the opposite sex.
* If it's also shallow, you usually lack the patience to pursue the opposite sex and hard to fall deep when fall in love.
* If your marriage line goes downwards at the end (Figyour partner will die earlier than you. If it curves downwards suddenly, your partner may suffer from accidental death.
* Another situation is that it curves downwards and touches the heart line. This indicates marriage crises and personality clashes with your partner.
* If the line curves upwards at the end, it indicates constant in love and a settled marriage life.
* If the line is forked at the beginning with a shape of "Y", It indicates split-up
* If the line has split ends, it indicates marriage crises and separation. You may spend the whole life in confusion. You may also suffer from indigestion.
* The broken marriage line shows you are easy to meet setbacks in love or marriage.
* The longer the broken part is, the more serious the situation is. If the break is short, thatâs not too much problem.
* If an island appears at the beginning of the line, it shows you may not go smoothly in love relationship before marriage.
* An island in the middle indicates twists and turns in love.
* If the island appears at the end of the line, it indicated obstacles after marriage.
* Many islands indicate unfavorable love relationship and marriage.Â
* Grilles means that there are great ups and downs during your marriage life.
* If you have multi disordered overlapping lines with different lengths, it shows you couldn't have an ideal love relationship or marriage. It's hard to meet a good lover and easy to spend the whole life without marriage.
* If you have two marriage lines running parallel with the same length, it indicates a tortuous marriage. Also, people who separate with his/her partner for a long time and reunite usually have this kind of marriage line.
* If the two lines running parallel with different lengths, you are easy to fall into love-triangle situations.

Sleep Spell Bottle
đso i created this spell bottle because it is hard for me to sleep and stay asleep.đ
đhere are the steps!đ
đon the bottom you would put in soil from your home, this soil is a way of, anyone who lives this home is protected.
đnext is rosemary, which has a huge protection property to it. then lavender following that, lavender is known for aiding in sleep!
đafter that would be some amethyst or really any small stones; you do not have to follow the supplies strictly, adjust it to your needs.
đlastly add any finishing touches you desire; some examples are:
- putting any mementos relating to you or whoever the bottle is for. (i put incense ashes in mine because i love the smell)
- sealing the bottle with wax! It gives it a really cool look to it
đso now youâve done it! meditate on the purpose of the bottle, to get good rest and be protected while resting. you could also charge it in the windowsill overnight if you wish! đ

Major Arcana | Wands | Cups | Swords | Pentacles
Wish I could open up a witch shop in my little town. It would probably make the front page news LOL. But it would be magical. To wake up every morning and get to ride my bike to main street, open up my little shop, smelling of incense and oils and with crystals, books and candles everywhere.
Iâd have 2 small loveseats and one of those big comfy arm chairs surrounding a large circle coffee table covered in books, crystals and candles. Tea would be served to guest as we all hang out enjoying each otherâs company. Iâd have my beaded curtains up to give the back divination room some privacy, where I can give clients readings that might change their lives.
I wouldnât want it to be one of those really big shops or anything. Just something small and homey feeling. Fresh plants everywhere. I could invite some of my favorite witches to come speak at small intimate events and gatherings. Stock homemade and handmade witchcraft supplies and tools made by witches locally and from all over the world.
Iâd know my customers by name and weâd spend 15 minutes at the register chatting about their cat as I ring them up. Iâll throw little extra gifts (maybe a tumbled stone or a tea light candle) into their bag before they leave.
Spring afternoon would be spent in the small herb garden in the front of the shop, sitting sipping tea and greeting people as they walk past.
Saturday summer nights would be spent sitting on the big arm chair hosting witch book club and sharing some wine with friends.
Fall mornings would be spent with the shop door open, windows open, letting in the yummy scents of autumn, while rearranging the crystal display (for the 4th time that week lol).
Winter evenings Iâd invite some witch friends to the shop to enjoy hot chocolate and movie.
I wish.
Thereâs a magick store in my town that has this vibe and I canât stay away for long ^
Things to put under your pillow
Even sleep can be magickal. Hereâs a list of things to put under your pillow for magickal sleep:
Amethyst to ward off nightmares
Rose Quartz to tackle headaches
Labradorite/nuumite to boost any spells
Snowy quartz for when youâre revising/studying for exams
Lavender for good sleep
Rosemary also for when youâre studying/revising for exams
Yarrow for dreaming of your true love
Bay for protection
Feel free to add to the list. Iâll reblog to keep it updated. Or, you can write your own post on magickal sleep rituals and tag it as #magickal sleep. Iâll try to reblog everything I find. :-)
I donât know how many tumblr witches know, this could be old news, but I found that this is the best place to get jars/bottles to feed my obsession! They have a bunch of different colors, but most of them are clear. They have different shapes and such, and theyâre very very cheap, even the jugs !! In their FAQ they said itâs fine to even order just 1 bottle at a time, even though most people order a bunch at once. Itâs honestly the best deal on high quality bottles and jars that Iâve found so far! I would honestly skip Amazon and go straight here. 10/10!

đŻïž Reading Candles for Yes-or-No Questions đŻïž
đ„ High, steady flame - Yes.
đ„ Low, steady flame - No.
đ„ Short, weak flame - No.
đ„ Dancing flame - Needs more focus. Re-ground, concentrate, and ask again.Â
đ„ Violently flickering flame - Strong no. Take this as a warning (if you are positive the flickering is not caused by any outside force).
đ„ Sputtering and crackling flame - There is more to your answer than a simple yes or no.
đ„ Dual-Flame - Thinking, wait for your answer.Â
đ„ Flame leaning to the left - Yes.
đ„ Flame leaning to the right - No.Â
đ„ Candle will not light - Now is not the right time to ask.

đ„ Candle goes out on its own before giving an answer - Now is not the right time to ask.
