"everyone should get more aromantic" can appeal to tumblr's sensibilities but I genuinely think everyone should also get more asexual. I don't mean everyone stop having sex, what I mean is

Sex is not essential. You can live without it. Full stop.

Not having sex isn't shameful or a sign of failure. It also doesn't make anyone boring.

You are not entitled to having sex with anybody and nobody is entitled to having sex with you.

Sex is not what makes someone an adult.

Nobody's worth is defined by how much sex they have or don't have.

Sex is not equally important to everyone.

You can have fulfilling and happy relationships without sex.

You should only have sex on your own terms, not because you feel like you owe it to someone, or because you feel like you'd be incomplete without it.

Know your boundaries around sex and be firm about them. Know how to respect other people's boundaries.

The previous point also applies when it comes to discussing sex. If someone doesn't wanna talk about it or hear about it you have to back down.

Anything can be sexual but not everything has to be sexual.

#This is perhaps an odd thing to add and if it's taking away from the post lmk and I'll remove my comments!!#But I often feel this way when trying to describe certain power dynamics and kink preferences in my OCs #like yes sometimes Sex Happens and they like stuff bc Its Sexy #but many more times it's about the emotional stress or fulfilment and how they form bonds #and esp how people's life experiences impact their boundaries or how they react to other ppls boundaries #trying to talk genuinely about the many layers of lifestyle dynamics and being met with 'haha yeah so hot so sexy' can be frustrating #(Nobody I'm talking about has tumblr btw this is not a vaguepost)

Hey gang, if ever you're around kids and they're talking about their problems, please don't tell them "Just wait until you're and adult" or talk about childhood as if that's as good as it will ever be. Like, I get that adulthood is hard. Especially right now. But I think people don't realize how damaging it is to be a child and be told, in gentler words, "it's only going to get worse from here." Kids are smarter than you think and they'll understand what you're implying, and it will hurt them.

If you have a senior to check on ask them to "borrow" something small so they think they're helping you.

My mom (72) recently downsized and moved close enough to me that checking on her in person regularly is not really out of my way, but when I was obvious about it she wouldn’t let me “stop-by” because she was, “fine”.

Well, one day I actually needed some aluminum foil so I called and asked if I could borrow enough to cover a baking tin because I didn’t want to run to the store. She said sure, but when I got to her house she needed furniture moved, a wasp nest removed, and her coffee pot fixed. After I got the foil I mentioned each thing cautiously and she let me take care of them for her. So next weekend I’ll need a cup of rice and check on her again.

- ask for something they can actually help you with. Elders have skills. Mending? Advice about knitting, gardening, home repair, nevermind professional training?

-ask about their experiences. “I was reading about xyz event the other day & I would love to know what that time was like for you. Can we chat about it over tea?” Goes double for family history for relatives.

-“Someone gave me this [or, I ended up with extra] & I don’t need/want it, but I bet you have a use for it. Can I bring it over? I would hate for it to go to waste.”

-work side-by-side. They get your physical help, you get their experience & expertise. “Could I come over & have you show me how you [used to] prune your gorgeous roses? I’m trying to get better with mine.”

i swear sometimes it feels like vast swathes of people on here think there's some moral value to "annoying"ness like it's morally incorrect to be annoying so if you're not doing anything wrong it can't be annoying and if you're annoyed with someone they must have morally failed or something. Like my god. Have you never just been irked by something harmless before?
