I’m still bad at making this kind of post, but my big boy here needs some help.

This is Buck. (He’s named that because he cost all of $1.) He’s one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. He’s a little dumb, but he’s incredibly sweet. He likes bubbles, cats, and his Aussie best friend.

Yesterday, I took him to his vet for his annual vaccines. He received a positive heartworm test.

Luckily, he hasn’t shown any symptoms, so his vet believes we’ve caught it early. I was given three options: I could give him a $200 medicine every month for the rest of his life, I could go through a $1500 treatment over the next four months to cure him, or I could wait it out and euthanize him when his quality of life declines.

And I love this stupid dog, so I’m going with the $1500 one.

My family is going to be helping out with this, so this isn’t a “donate or my dog dies” post, but I have seven other animals under my roof, and two of them are also on some not-cheap medications. We could really use some extra support right now. My Ko-Fi is always open to donations (+ I’ll be opening new commission slots very soon), and I’ll be adding more cat & dog supplies to my Throne soon if you prefer to donate something more tangible.

If you’re not in a position where you can donate, reblogs also mean a lot. I just want to make sure my big guy has the best fighting chances I can give him.

Like I’ve said, I’m blessed to have people close to me who are helping me with these costs, so this is mostly just a way to make y’all more aware of the incredible impact you’re making to help me lighten the load on them and maintain consistent care for all of my four-legged friends.
