“You guys take this tournament way too serious. It puts so much pressure on the few of us who don’t really care about it. It’s nice to see you, too. How did you spend the rest of last year? And uh– flowers make me sneeze a lot, but they’re really pretty and I appreciate it? I just can’t keep them.”

“I understand, sorry if I was bothering you with it. My parents tell me all the time that I’m way too competitive. I just did school stuff mostly, my softball team did win the state championship though so that was awesome. what about you? Oh-uh yeah, I understand, sorry!”

“if that douche champ thinks he’s beating me at softball this year, he’s sadly mistaken. actually any sports for that matter, i’m gonna cream that little jerk. anyway though, its uh-really nice seeing you! i had a lot of fun hanging out last summer so i’m really happy you came this year too. also i kinda uh-found these or whatever, so you can have them if you want.”

“ I’m exhausted. I didn’t get a wink of sleep last night thinking someone was going to murder me in my sleep.  I thought this place would be a lot more Camp Rock and a lot less Cabin in the Woods. ”

“are you serious? no one’s going to kill you here, our counselors are like the best in the country, they keep watch for us! were you really looking forward to a camp rock styled camp? god, i’m glad its nothing like that.”

“Why can’t we go into town? I miss civilization and room service. Getting fucked against a tree sounds more exciting in theory, but my back is too sensitive for practice. Don’t you have a good job? Give her the money you have now and get rich again.”

“Because a guy and younger girl going into town together looks mighty suspicious doesn’t it? Amy just takes that red-haired counselor, not some young guy. You sure? I wouldn't mind practicing, it’d be a way to get away.” he said with a light chuckle. “Joking. I’m not exactly looking to get ticks in the lower region.”

“What? I was not informed I’d be forced to play sports. You’re gonna have to break my leg to get me off of it. Kidding, but alright. I can’t be that bad if I don’t engage too much, right? I’ll just stand there and let you bring it home for the team.”

“yeah its like in the guide lines. its softball, you can’t exactly help but engage, i’ll put you on third base though, its not exactly super action packed.”

“I know, sweetie. Trust me, I wish I could be far away from here with you, but Diego owns a share of this stupid camp and we have to come here every summer and I simply cannot risk getting caught. These cabins aren’t exactly private. I’m sure we can manage to keep it down for the rest of the summer.”

“Can’t we take another over night trip to town for supplies or whatever? Please! I need some alone time with you, most of the people here suck. Plus there’s this creepy kid who keeps trying to watch me change.”

Damien chuckled awkwardly and got slightly flustered at the joke. “Alright, but if something happens then I’ll tell people you peer pressured me into leaving the kids alone. It could happen. I read an article once about a guy who got struck by lightning twice! But I’ll come, if you promise to protect me.”

“you’d thrown me under the bus? that hurts man, i thought we were friends, bros even. twice? i don’t know about that, i mean i’m gonna take your word for it since i can’t exactly fact check you with no service but just know, i’m suspicious of that story. of course i’ll protect you man.”

Ellie laughed loudly as she watched him stumble and fall.  She only had time to scream before he picked her up and they were into the lake. “You’re an idiot,” she said playfully, holding on tightly to him “You know I’m a terrible swimmer. Do you want to spend the rest of your life in jail for killing the cutest girl at camp?”

kai held his arms around her, holding her so that she wouldn’t sink. “well i’m a great swimmer so that cancels out your terrible swimming. hey, i wouldn’t go to jail, this was totally in self-defense. besides i wouldn’t exactly say you’re teh cutest, ms. amy is still here remember?” he teased, giving her a small squeeze.

“You do look quite healthy, I’ll give you that. Hey, I bet there’s at least one person out there who’s allergic to weed! There’s all kinds of weird allergies! And I just meant if you’d keep me company, I wasn’t hitting on you, I promise.”

“healthy? i’m fuckin’ ripped kid. i bet there’s not, that’s just dumb its fuckin’ medicinal and shit kid. you sure? i don’t want april to kick your ass.”

“Shit, I wish my uncle had died here. I had to beg my parents to pay for me to come here this summer and I’m probably not gonna get the sweet sixteen I wanted now. And I can’t really look it up, there’s no bars in this place. It’s a nightmare.”

“hey that’s insensitive, i loved that man. he was a true homie. well that sucks, we can still hang out on your birthday, i’ll make my parents fly me all the way out to your house! well y’know...there are books and newspapers and stuff.”

Bridgit squealed and gestured in excitement. “Are you kidding me? Coffee houses got nothing on tree shades by the lake. We’re not reading, though. We’re gonna make art and crafts with the kids.”

birdie rolled here eyes, crossing her arms with a sigh. “Why would I do that? I have much better things to do. Besides I’m supposed to be signed up to watch the docks today.”

“what’s the point of me coming to this stupid camp if we’re not gonna hook up? i’m here for you. i don’t care about your stupid wife, let her see us. i’m tired of hiding from everyone. it was hot at first but now it’s annoying.”

“we can hook up, don’t be ridiculous. just not when amy is on the premises and she’s gone all of the time, she and lee are always having to run into town to pick up first aid supplies. when they leave for that we can do whatever we want. i’ve got to do it the right way, otherwise i wont’ have any money after the divorce is finalized.”

“I want to say yes but I haven’t played in so long. I don’t want to be the reason you lose. You’d probably hold that against me and we’d never speak again. Can’t I be your cheerleader instead? “

“Of course you can be my cheerleader babe.” he said with a wink. “The only problem is everyone has to participate in sports or whatever....its like a rule. I could never not speak to you, well unless you lost all the sports stuff for me but I doubt you’re that bad.”

“You are lucky you have self control. I’d be forced to push you away if you did such thing. I’m not getting out of this marriage without all his money just because you can’t control your hormones.”

“hey i can’t help that i love you! you should appreciate the fact that i care that much....and that i can’t control my hormones. otherwise you’d be bored all summer. i can almost guarantee mr. diego has something going on with a camper or two around here.”

“I’d rather come and do stuff with you– I mean, you guys. The universal you. But, we can’t leave them unsupervised. It’s our job to watch over them. What if something happens? I heard this kid say her uncle was killed here.”

“With me....that’s so gay dude.” he teased, giving him a light shove. “Anyway the kids aren’t 3 years old, they can manage just fine. Pamela? I mean he was but that was years and years ago, do you really think it’ll happen again. Just stop being a wimp and come with me!”

Ellie tugged at the rope before nodding approvingly. “You did a great job. We’ll still need to supervise them on it, though. You know kids can turn anything into a deadly weapon. But for now,” she trailed off and took a step forward “You need a bath.” she added before shoving him into the lake.

Kai stumbled backwards into the lake, instantly becoming soaked. “Oh very funny Elle!” he laughed, climbing from the lake. “You forget though, you’re way dirtier than I am!” he said scooping her into his arms and jumping into the lake.

“Is it safe? I’ve never smoked anything before and I don’t want to, like, die. What if I’m allergic? Will you stay with me if it makes me feel sick?”
