Since The Raven King comes out today, I wanted to post something special before I dive into the end. I’ve been wasting away months of my life drawing all the scenes for this video, and now it’s finally done. I hope you enjoy it!

#this is indeed /special/ oh my goodness #wow #not only is every character and landscape and object absolutely fantastically drawn #but the deep walking motion of the series itself #in all its intrigue and horror and wonder - the very feeling of these books and their story in so many key moments and relationships is capt #captured so SO WELL #the beat and lyrics of the song #the smooth and measured changes from scene to scene with such a range of different movements #such a gorgeous rhythm that catches attention from the very beginning and carries onward like an interested heartbeat #this is incredible work. is the point #i love this so much and am going to watch it another good few times *__*#the raven cycle

Every day for the last 12 years I have sent a letter to the Pacific Ocean. They eventually get returned to me by the Post Office with markings stating, “Return to Sender.” Sometimes I get handwritten messages from postal carriers that are pretty amazing!!! All right guys, let’s talk about Gou-chan, because we don’t talk about her enough.

Gou, for my money, is the most underappreciated character in Free!, by virtue of the fact that she is not a Hot Guy (this is really no offense to Hot Guys, they’re great too, just that they always inevitably overshadow Gou). I’ll readily confess that I’m victim to this as well; Gou is a character I’ve always found a little difficult to grasp, and as a result haven’t always paid as much attention to as she merits.

And actually? I’d like to think that that’s the way Gou herself would want it to be.

From the first two episodes of the series, it’s already evident that Gou is an incredibly resourceful and tenacious person, and that she cares a lot about her older brother. Right off the bat, we see her eavesdropping on Makoto, Nagisa and Haru, we see her texting Rin to push them together…

Somewhere there’s a final space where your hand on my face is the punchy climax to an epic saga, where the way our mouths meet takes the breath right out of people’s throats. One universe has us right, of all the millions stacked on millions. So it’s not this one. I can live with that. The world is full of wonders and a hundred years ago the moon was too much to dream of touching. Look how far we’ve come. Turn over your shoulder and just look. Maybe we’ll come across each other at the turning of the century, racing across the breaches between worlds. I’ll build my life on that maybe.
