Scots Pine is known in Gaelic as giuthas, giubhas or craobh ghiuthais which translates as "Juicy tree" because of its abundant resin.
These trees are abundant in Scotland and once formed part of a massive ancient Caledonian pine forest once covering most of Scotland.
Pine is an evergreen and symbolic of life and immortality. Scots Pine used to be planted on the graves of warriors, possibly to symbolise rebirth or afterlife.
A symbol of fertility, the cones were often used to represent masculine genitalia in legends and art.
In Orkney it was traditional to sain (purify, protect and bless) mothers and newborn babies by whirling a flaming pine-candle three times around the bed.
Pine is a favourite tree of mine, I love to see their tall, majestic presence when I walk into a woodland 🌲
It is one of the botanicals I use often in my practice and one of the ingredients in my Saining Blend, available in the Hearth and Hame Etsy shop.

A small gift to the forest.
something about goblin markets and braving the thorns and the deep sensuality of popping a tart wild plum into your mouth

Abusers will try to control information. They will discourage you from talking about the abuse. They will tell you that things are not others' business. They will try to convince you that the abuse is normal and that you are overreacting.
This is not true.
You are allowed to talk about the abuse. You are allowed to get help. You do not deserve to be abused.

Rest is a requirement.
Trauma takes a heavy toll on the body's energy reserves. To constantly be in a state of fight, flight, fawn, freeze, to be stressed out so often and so hard, it's exhausting.
And when you're that tired, even the most minor of tasks feel like scaling a mountain.
You aren't lazy, you're struggling. You're fighting against the toll your trauma takes.
You need to let yourself rest. Rest, and don't blame yourself for needing it.
Dreaming of the farmer’s market again ✨

Being traumatized means continuing to organize your life as if the trauma were still going on—unchanged and immutable—as every new encounter or event is contaminated by the past.
