If you identify as Asian American or Pacific Islander, we’d love for you to join us! Participants with perspectives often marginalized in AAPI communities are especially encouraged to apply including, but not limited to, Pacific Islanders, Sikh and Muslim communities, refugees, youth, queer and trans people, formerly incarcerated people, people from rural communities, undocumented people, poor and working-class people, multiracial people, and people with disabilities. We are committed to building an intentional space with a focus on equity and justice by fundraising to help participants with travel costs, supporting participants during potentially challenging conversations, and addressing accessibility needs.
And we need your help! Whether you’re working in queer AAPI communities, creating art & media to increase the visibility of AAPIs, organizing to offer alternatives to incarceration, or exploring the history & theory that ground our practice, we need your perspective! We’re especially looking for help:
+ contextualizing the work that we are doing in our communities and at the AMC from an historical perspective + facilitating breakout groups and workshops during the network gathering + leading awesome and creative group activities + assembling the network gathering zine + sharing stories of successes & challenges from your communities and projects + supporting participants as volunteers on the safety team or volunteering for other tasks + fundraising to make sure the network gathering is as inclusive as possible
