“Well that’s a surprise, but I’m glad you’re happy. You’re happy, right?”
“Yes,” Philip said, “I’m very happy.”
aurcrasrcse:
“So are you just going to stand there or are you going to tell me what you’re doing here?”
“Your mom let me in. I’ve been looking for you,” Philip leaned against the door frame and grinned, “I have a question.”
tinkcrbella:
“I don’t know what it is about repairing a shattered phone screen that just…relaxes me.”
“I imagine fixing many broken things can be relaxing.”
mariebonfamille:
“Doesn’t matter that you didn’t mean to, only that you did.” Her tone was confrontational, but only because she was angry at herself for being to jumpy, ready to harm anyone that invaded her personal space without her permission. “That’s a matter of perspective. On the outside, I’m perfectly flawless. On the inside, I’m apparently a psychopath that’s willing to pepper spray innocent boys.” She huffed. “So I’d say I’m ‘functioning’ more than alright.”
“The fact that I did without meaning to insinuates that I am not entirely at fault. I wasn’t even aware that I was walking near you,” Philip held up his phone to reinforce that idea. He knew that he response wasn’t something to laugh at. Clearly, she’d gone through something that gave her a reason to be so ready to pepper spray him, “I won’t pry,” He stated simply, “I’m sorry for scaring you.”
slowlyfadingaway:
“Oh… I see.” Gretel nodded, understanding why he seemed so stress to begin with. “I’m not very experienced in business however if you are having a difficult time deciding between some, I can help as a second opinion.”
“I’m not having any difficulty. At this point, I’m agreeing to all of them unless I find something in the contract that would not be beneficial to my company. I can partner with them all unless there’s a conflict, which there isn’t.”
mariebonfamille:
Blood pounded through her veins, her heartbeat thundering in her ears as she began to panic. Even after all this time, being alone made her panic. One man had ruined her faith in others, so when Marie heard someone approaching, she began to freak out. When the other was close enough, Marie whirled around, pepper spray in hand. Lowering the can when she saw who it was, she took a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I thought you were someone else.”
Philip didn’t even realise he’d been walking way too close for comfort to the girl on the street with him until a can of pepper spray was shoved in his face. He nearly dropped the phone he was tapping away on when it happened and his eyes widened, “Whoa there, I didn’t mean to scare you,” He furrowed his brow and studied the girl closely, “Are you alright?”
slowlyfadingaway:
Gretel couldn’t believe this man. Was he always like this towards everyone he met? She sighed, knowing this was as close as she was going to get without shouting at him. “Exactly.” She held her tongue from saying something else. “Some more than others.” She paused for a minute thinking on how to change the subject. “What are you working on anyway?”
Philip looked down at the paperwork in front of him, “Contracts. I’ve had an influx of business partners recently so I have to read through these before I finalise and sign them.”
wthscarlett:
“Then you might just live forever, because that’s never gonna happen.” Scarlett laughed. “Yeah, broody is not really an emotion. Sorry to disappoint. Though I suppose you have that cutthroat businessman persona as well, so I don’t know.” She shook her head. “Oh, but it does. That’s the whole point of it. We get to express our emotions and feelings without being too judged about it, because that’s where art comes from. You can’t have art without sappiness. That’s a fact.”
“I think the law of averages is on my side. Eventually I have to be right,” Philip was sure that at one point, he had been right when talking to Scarlett but he knew rightly that she’d been right more times. Not that he’d admit to that, “I wasn’t talking about broody. I’ve been... angry and...” Philip struggled to think of a positive emotion that he’d felt over the past few years, “I’ve definitely been happy at some point. I’m always happy to see you,” He shook his head, “I know for a fact that there are some artists that haven’t been sappy and they’ve expressed that through their art.”
janeofporter:
“It’s definitely about finding the right person.” Otherwise, with her track record in relationships, Jane would’ve given up on the notion of love a long time ago. But she believed that when one found the right person, the rest was easy. “Maybe she’s your person, who knows. Certainly not you. Not until you try.”
“That’s what I’m hoping for,” Philip replied, turning and pointing to the coffee shop, “We’re here.”
ericcharming:
“Woah, woah, woah – wait a sec,” Eric said, processing what Philip had just told him. “Haven’t you two hated each other since the beginning of time?”
Philip laughed, “I guess we didn’t really hate each other after all.”
ericcharming:
“Damn, I could never do all that,” he said with a sigh. It sounded like an overwhelming amount of stuff. “Oh? Do tell.”
Philip shrugged, “It’s not for everyone. I wasn’t even sure I could do this job until I started,” He smiled sheepishly and looked down for a moment, “I kissed Aurora at the masquerade ball and, well, I guess I’m sort of dating her now. Although we haven’t actually been on a date yet.”
slowlyfadingaway:
“I get that you want to keep your job as a high priority but perhaps you don’t have sound so… cold towards others. After all, people are willingly to do business much more with someone who is on their level rather than pretends to be higher.” Gretel sighed as she realized she was getting nowhere with this guy. It felt pointless to argue with someone much less someone she didn’t even know fully. She looked at him after a small silence fell between them. “Listen, can we just start over? I really don’t want to start a fight someone. We clearly our own set of beliefs and I can accept yours.”
“I’m not being cold. I’m being serious and maybe I see myself as higher up on the ladder than others but I don’t show it when it’s unnecessary,” Philip replied and then furrowed his brow, “I don’t believe in do-overs. You can’t just erase conversations and memories,” He paused, “But I do believe in second chances. Getting off on the wrong foot happens to everyone.”
wthscarlett:
“Then you’ll be wrong till you die. Your call.” She shrugged. “It’s my job as you best friend to call you out on your sappiness. I’m just taking it seriously.” She paused. “Although you are right, you hardly ever show emotion at all. This whole conversation has been a complete 180 for you, Mr. Robot,” she teased, smiling into his chest. “I’m allowed to be sappy, I’m an artist. My living depends on my sappiness.”
"Nope, I’m gonna live on until the day that I’m right,” Philip teased, “Hey, I show emotion. Sappy isn’t the only emotion you know. But I think there was a compliment in there somewhere so thank you,” He rolled his eyes in amusement, “Being an artist doesn’t allow you to be sappy all the time, Scar,” He joked.
arielsxtriton:
“I don’t have a use for it, but I found it interesting. So I took it.”
“So you collect wind chimes?”
arielsxtriton:
“There are plenty of things that are interesting in a garden, like old furniture, ornaments. I found a really nice wind chime. And I took a lot of photos too of the flowers.”
“What use do you have for a wind chime?”
ericcharming:
“I was actually wondering – what exactly has got you so busy? I know it’s stuff for your family’s company, but what are you guys working on at the moment?”
“Well we’ve had an influx in new business partners and deals. Just when I think I’m working with every company in town, another one pops up. It’s insane,” Philip paused, “But there have also been some changes in my social life as well.”

ctrl-philip:
“Good…” Philip moved to wrap his arms around her waist and pull her closer.
Smirking softly, Aurora stopped replying and let herself enjoy the kissing.
