I look at your drawing of emma from TPN, sobbing violently, snot dripping out of my nose as I beg for what brush you use and your sketching process and your drawing app before my head is blasted off via the gun emma was holding
I HAVE SLWAYS WANTED SOMEONE TO ASK ME THJS AHDHHDJSKSNN 💕❤️🩹❤️🩹 I LVOE YOU
okay so anyways this was actually drawn traditionally with a mechanical pencil lolol
try to use more high quality paper (anything but printer paper lol, it leaves too many creases which casts harsh shadows), avoid excessive eraser marks, and lastly take the photo in good lighting.
Next, here is what I adjusted (in the photos app) to make the lineart pop, as if it’s digital:
Exposure 10, Brilliance 95, Highlights 70, Shadows 65, Contrast 55, Saturation -100, Noise Reduction 15, lastly I cropped it. It has to be as white as possible in order to use Clear White later on, which allows you to colour the drawing.
It ends up looking like this:
Then I put the photo into ibisPaint X. I didn’t make too many adjustments to the lineart, but whenever i did i used Dip Pen (Bleed), i’m pretty sure that this brush comes with the app. I reckon you can’t even tell where i used it, it’s so similar to the pencil! Next, this is where Clear White comes into play. I cleared white (colour and greyscale) so that the white parts of the image became transparent, so then I could colour the piece easily in a layer underneath.
also used the lasso tool to push the pose a little. This was a bit tricky to figure out because in some spots i’d lose the paper texture, and in others it would overlap and make some spots darker, like this:
Here’s a (very) rough tutorial on how to use lasso tool when working with paper texture/Clear White layers, (there are other ways to do it, i’m sure, but here is how i managed):
I think that’s mostly it! i might’ve been a bit too thorough so i bolded the parts where i answered your questions.
As for my sketching process, i don’t think i have one. i used to try using sketches and guidelines but it wasn’t for me at all. i like to just go for it, and whatever i draw i digitalize that and use it as my final lineart. it’s easy with a reference, which i had. sometimes i create my own references by merging stock photos, if that counts as a sketch? this piece in particular took only 20 minutes to draw on paper, then i just used that as the lineart.
anyways, lots of love 💕 hoped this helped at least a little lolol
