Hey, everyone with a pulse is going to lust after a piece of Maxine Minx once they see what you can do. You know why? Why? 'Cause you got that X factor. Fuckin'-A-right.

cannot stop thinking about saltburn in the context of the growing trend of criticizing movies for having sex & nudity. there’s all of this fucked up sexual stuff happening, but it’s all one degree removed from an actual sex scene. where we would expect to find nudity, we instead have blood (venetia) & shadows (farleigh) as our visuals. where we do see nudity, it’s either in a sexless context or it technically amounts to masturbation rather than sex (looking at you, grave scene). we never get the standard sex scene modern audiences seem to hate so much or anything even remotely resembling it. it’s what was asked for, and it’s also so much worse. you’re deeply disturbed, but thank god you don’t have to see tits
okay emerald fennel highlighting the importance of desire in the film has really solidified this for me. every story is ultimately about desire. it’s what drives every plot forward, and sex is such a good way to make desire feel visceral, hence saltburn’s depiction of intense desire being realized as a series of nasty sex acts (affectionately). but again, they’re divorced from—simply put—actual sex. this can be attributed to oliver not actually getting what he wants, but additionally, the unwillingness to show the most explicit parts of what does happen conveys a sense of shame, a sense that this desire is too immense and too disgusting to fully be shared (remember oliver crying after he kills felix)
i think this very same feeling is reflected in the idea that sex & nudity in movies are “unnecessary” elements that should be removed. we want to see characters desire—that’s the whole point of storytelling—but if we look too closely at how their desire manifests, it may be too much to bear. the result is some kind of new-wave puritanism & lifeless films that shy away from the reality of what should be at their core: desire. to be human is to want, and that doesn’t always mean sex, but to pretend like it isn’t or shouldn’t ever be sex is straight up delusional.
ok so here's the thing
genuinely obsessed with the grimace milkshake meme I hope it's got the McDonald's marketing team locked in a board room biting their nails desperately trying to figure out if this is positive press or not
how could they possibly have predicted this
I literally can't stop watching these
Went by Disneyland the other day, and picked up BD-1 at Galaxy’s Edge! So cool seeing Jedi Fallen Order/Jedi Survivor merch in the parks!

I’m sitting here thinking of all the things I wanted to apologize to you for. All the pain we caused each other. Everything I put on you. Everything I needed you to be or needed you to say. I’m sorry for that. I’ll always love you because we grew up together. You helped make me who I am. I just wanted you to know, there will be a piece of you in me always. And I’m grateful for that. Whatever someone you become and wherever you are in the world, I’m sending you love. You’re my friend to the end.
