Forced to relax in #nothingcouldbefiner 🌙🌴 #southcarolina . . As some of you may know, I have been battling shingles for several weeks, canceling And postponing one event after another, and able to help others and you needed help and comfort, isolated often, and able even to write or paint. I’ve been trending up lately, but probably too fast, and this week at the beach with my whole sweet family has been such a blessing. When I had this week’s event cancel tonight because of the terrible storms, I just called Miss Judith @mcdowellsemporium 📚 and we have sat up a fun pop up for Saturday from 11 to 2 at her most delightful book shop! 📚 ☕️ 🖼 . I’ll be working on the next few letters in my“ABCs of Pride and Prejudice” series (see last pic), signing and personalizing any college, university and state prints y’all purchase, and will also be offering 20% off my Etsy shop prices! 🥰 Plus no shipping, obvi. 💁🏼‍♀️ 📦 . Ever notice how art can not only poignantly express joy, but also grief? . The grief coming out in these paintings the last 48 hours has been tangentially for all that is #NotreDamedeParis , but essentially for a great tragedy that has, in God‘s providence, befallen our church and community. . No one knows what to do, or say. . What comes out of our mouth is broken, bumbling, inadequate, not enough. . “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ has forgiven you.“ . When an impromptu art lesson for four sisters aged approximately 3 to 12 turns into a tea party and design session… You get a popsicle pattern! 🌈 . The two oldest had been over once before, so they kind of knew how to get started, and were absolute treasures helping with the young ones. 💎 . The younger ones only wanted to paint food… 🍩 And dance… And eat carrots and cake. 🍰 . We painted ice cream 🍦 and donuts 🍩 and rainbows 🌈 and cherry trees 🍒 and stone birdbath fountains. . We liked the popsicle so much we uploaded it to Photoshop and created a pattern! “Sarah mills popsicle“ now on @spoonflower and @society6 ! 💁🏼‍♀️ . And we gave God the glory and rejoiced… and really were tempted to dance! The designer gets a mug in her pattern. ☕️ 🏆 . Well, maybe just twirl a little bit. 💃🏻 . From @AscotRacecourse to the @kentuckyderby , a Day at the Races is an elegant form of... tailgating! 🐎 🎀🌸👛👒🎩🍽 The most serious dress up - hats dusted off - bring out the linens, china and silver, and enjoy the day in well-chosen attire and pleasant company. Such was the case at this particular @CarolinaCup , at which the two pictured, well supplied with tasty fare (and themselves trotting towards matrimony) devoted themselves to good cheer, and to the responsibilities of hosting their large crowd, with equal magnanimity! This Classic #nothingcouldbefiner 🌙🌴 #SouthCarolina spring horse race is actually considered, dating from the Good Olde Days, to be the official start of the seersucker-, linen- and white-wearing season! 👛 If such scenes delight you, then, hopefully, every glance at this print (of an original watercolor) will bring a smile, and thoughts of lighthearted days, which render the hard work, which makes such pleasantries possible, ever more noble.
