Jacob’s eyes widened a little hearing the name of the band, it rang a fair few bells since their music was pretty regularly played on the radio around the garage. He was reaching in and removing the broken old fan belt and working on adding the new one, stopping every now and then to wipe the sweat from his brow that was slowly dripping down his face and making the shirt stick to his body “Well we’re going to make sure we get you there in time no matter what” Jacob said, looking over the front of the car “Either I get this ol’ gal to start now or, after I tow it back to the shop to work over it even harder, I’ll drive you to the show myself so you won’t miss it. Heck, if this gal does start now I might follow you there just in case to make sure it doesn’t crap out on us” he said with a playful smile, grabbing a wrench and leaning in to tighten a few bolts he saw that looked somewhat loose. He had to lean over quite a bit, he could almost feel the air on his back from the shirt riding up while he got in deep to really make sure he got everything tightened up as much as he could “Alright, try and turn her on for me and let’s see if I’m a genius” he joked, using the front of his shirt to casually mop his brow while looking down to his work.
whatever deity was out there was truly trying mal's patience as he watched how the other man bent over even further and teased him. his tongue came out to swipe across his lips as he regarded the other man. mal's eyes didn't stray from the other man as he took in the view, before remembering that he was supposed to be focusing on his rather simple job. he turns the key… and for a moment, it seems like the car is about to roar to life. but once again the sound happens, and this time there seems to be a small dusting of smoke from the hood as well. “well that can't be good,” mal blinked as he looked at it. “i'm assuming the towing is the direction we go from here?” mal asked curiously with a chuckle as he stepped out of the car. he also bent over the hood to inspect, although he had no idea what the hell he was looking at.
