LONELY E Y E S ||
lt-parrish:
With a low hum of humored recognition, Jordan allowed the corner of his lip to pull upward. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” he remarked, a surprised tone seeping into his words. Jordan wasn’t the most sophisticated of folks — he had graduated high school and immediately enrolled in the NYPA. There had never been much there for him in the way of literature; he didn’t quite have the same workload or materials to read over that his brothers had when they had gone to school for their English or business degrees. But he’d picked up a few courses at local community schools, knew enough about the classics to recognize Shakespeare when he was being somewhat quoted to him. It was just interesting that he would be quoted in a local dive bar by a gorgeous woman looking to have a little adult fun.
“So,” Jordan made to lean forward, mirroring Drew’s own alluring behavior, but found that sometime during the conversation he had already leaned towards her without realizing it. “You’re a Shakespearean criminal mastermind, is that it?” He tried as nonchalantly as possible to lean back in his seat, not wanting to give off the impression that he wasn’t interested — because he most certainly was — and drained the last few drops of liquor from his glass; he set the empty glass down on the bar, the tinkling of half melted ice-cubes clanging around drowned out by the noise of the rowdy patrons, and said, “Well, if you’re really a criminal mastermind wanted in — what was it? Ten states?” He gave a humored scoff and a shake of his head. “Then I guess we’ll be seeing a lot of each other.”
True to form, Jordan Parrish leaned back a tad more on his stool and lifted his t shirt just a bit to reveal the lieutenant’s badge clipped to his belt loop. With a wistful thought that he should have polished the damn thing had he known he’d be showing it off to a potential pick-up, Jordan smugly said, “Because I’m a lieutenant with the LAPD”
Drew lifted her eyebrows subtly in, a bit surprised that Jordan knew who she was quoting. She hummed, resting one arm on the table, and she used her other arm to prop herself up against the bar, her hand tucked beneath her chin as she looked at him. She nodded seriously as he spoke, though her lips did curl into a little humorous smile.
Her eyes travelled down to where he lifted up his shirt, her humorous smile turning into a little smirk at his words. “Oh, so it’s Office Parrish?” She said, lifting her eyes back up to his face. She bit her lower lip, “I am crazy about a man in uniform.” She said bluntly. “I guess we will be seeing each other,” she said, “considering your boss pretty much answers to me.” She said with an equal smugness. She finished the rest of her drink as well, “I’m the district attorney.”
She rubbed her lips together, shrugging her shoulders. “It’s probably where you know me from. I’ve been at the precinct a lot recently considering,” she said, insinuating she’d been there because of the uprise in crimes within the past month. It was really putting a damper on her mood, especially because she was having to put so much effort into work unlike before.
