“Ok, maybe you’re right…”
Ok, maybe she was right about some things, but only some…
Like how he was head over heels for Jabber, or how whenever Jabber acknowledged his existence; it filled his stomach with butterflies and made his ego inflate like a balloon. But those were only true sometimes. What she was saying right now was absolutely outrageous.
“Zanka, it’s perfectly fine if you’re into that type of stuff. Like I’m not judging..ok maybe i’m judging a little bit.” Riyo chuckled, bringing her hand up to her mouth to conceal her cat-like grin. Zanka sighed, this entire conversation was making his head hurt. “No, Riyo. I'm not into whatever the hell you’re talking about.” Zanka gritted through his teeth, but even he didn’t truly believe his words. Just then Zanka’s phone rang, thank god. Zanka glared at Riyo who continued to drink her coffee, watching as she slowly looked off to the side pretending she had done nothing wrong.
“Hey~ Mr. Bad Attitude~” Zanka sighed hoping Riyo didn’t hear the dumb nickname Jabber had given him. Spoilers, she did and she was never gonna let him live it down. Bringing the phone closer to his ear, Zanka rolled his eyes, “What the hell do you want Jabber?” Zanka answered with no true annoyance in his voice. “Oh, come on pretty boy. Is that really how you really wanna speak to your boyfriend~” A blushed shot up Zanka’s neck. Boyfriend, right, they had already been dating for a year, but hearing Jabber call himself his boyfriend was oddly embarrassing. Zanka smacked his teeth, rolling around the idea of hanging up on Jabber if he didn’t say what he wanted, and fast. “Like I said, what the hell do you want?”
“Ooh nothing, just wondering what time you're gonna be making it home?” The blush started creeping up from his neck into his face. Why’d Jabber sound so sweet when he said that? Almost like Jabber genuinely missed him…
“I’ll be home in like 30 minutes, 40 at the most, ok?” Hearing Jabber hum in response made Zanka’s knees weak. Ugh, why did Jabber have to make him so weak? Why couldn't he just an annoying weirdo that didn’t deserve his time and- “Hey, before you get home can you pick me up something to eat, I’ve been starving waiting for you to get here.” Zanka’s thoughts were cut short. He groaned, “Don’t you know how to cook?” Zanka rolled his eyes, eyebrows dropping into an irritated look. “Yeaah, but I don’t feel like cooking." Jabber whined.
“And besides…Don’t you wanna be good for your owner?~”
Zanka could basically feel the steam shooting out of his ears. Now his whole face was lit up red, all while Riyo was most definitely watching, and giggling. “Shit Zanka, what’s wrong with you?” Riyo was trying not to laugh, but was still trying to show some concern. “Nothing!” Zanka groaned, his voice cracked slightly. The grip Zanka had on his phone tightened, as if squeezing his phone any harder would erase what Jabber just said. Quickly Zanka gritted his teeth and spat, “Fine! I’ll bring you some damn food!” Zanka could hear Jabber giggle on the other end. Even though nothing about this was funny…
“Aww, thanks Zan-ka~” Jabber held off for a beat, before the most horrific words fell from his mouth. “Such a good boy…If you manage to get home fast enough I might even give you a reward. Now, doesn’t that sound nice?” Zanka felt like his ears were ringing from how hard he was pressing the phone to his ear, praying to god no one heard anything. His mouth felt dry, like any moment now he could just fall over and never get back up. Why was Jabber doing this? Knowing he was in public. Knowing Zanka wouldn’t be able to resist the bate…
“I’ll be home in 10, Jabb-“ Zanka was cut short by the clicking of Jabber’s tongue. “Wow~, I really thought I trained you better than this.” Zanka could hear the rustling of sheets. Jabber sighed before speaking again, voice turning ice cold, “I guess I’ll just have to teach you a lesson. God, you really are just a dumb mutt.” Before Zanka could even try and defend himself, the line went dead.
