She had never seen Natsuki this angry. Seen tears threatening to spill down her face. Within seconds, Monika had dropped to her knees in front of the girl, gently attempting to uncurl the others' balled fists so she could intertwine their fingers. She rested her forehead on the other's, as they did to calm each other down. She held her close. And then, only then, did she finally speak two words: "It's okay."
Natsuki rarely got genuinely mad. She got snarky, she was a spitfire, and she had a short temper, but she was also extremely easy to calm. Anger wasn’t something she liked to feel, to begin with, it made her skin feel hot, her blood pounding in her ears, her knuckles would turn white from how tightly she’d be balling them into fists.
She wasn’t really sure when Monika had shown up, by now her chin was wet with angry tears, her face red, eyes beginning to meet a similar hue. Her body trembled, quivering with so much pent-up feeling. It was never just anger when Natsuki finally lost it, it was years worth of anger, hate, and submerged emotions all coming to strangle her at once.
There was the sound of Monika’s weight meeting the ground, followed by fingers longer than her own fighting the pinkette’s own hands, quivering fists shaking as the Club President managed to get Nat to let go, instead of letting her bruising skin be hidden by the palm of her girlfriend’s.
As she’s pulled close, forehead resting against Monika’s, eyes filled with a deep fire, Natsuki can’t help but begin to feel everything bubble and spill over.
Those words do it, and in an instant, Natsuki’s suddenly sobbing. Hands move to cling to her girlfriend’s clothing, tight, desperate not to lose to contact, she hides her face in Monika’s collar as she weeps, breaths coming in deep, struggled gasps as she absolutely breaks down. It was so embarrassing, losing all control like this, but at least it was like this.
At least it was with her.
