???????????????????????? There are people who think Elita is kind and motherly??? Where? When? I'm not the biggest G1 buff yet (having a bit of trouble getting into the start but I'll get there) but. Anywhere else? I love Skybound Elita, and it baffles me when people talk about Transformers One Elita like mommy to Optimus being daddy to Bee being poor widdle baby boy despite likely being? Older than them, if I rememeber correctly? And also Cybertronians don't generally have parents but that's aside from the point. Unsurprising to see The Girl One Is Motherly but I'm genuinley confused about where even a single vibe of nicey nice gentle motherly-ness comes from to people. Like where. Honestly. Point to it. Quickly. (Not trying to be aggro at you, I have no doubt there's a swarm of people complaining about that, the thought is just so crazy to me)

NO SERIOUSLY. She is not even portrayed as “motherly” in G1, which is where I assume most people are pulling this interpretation from. My theory is that this stems mostly from Elita not having any major roles in TF media until years and years after the original cartoon run (in which she doesn’t have all that much characterization, either), which gave the fandom ample time to mold her character into Optimus’s Wholesome Wife. And then this became her “canon” characterization in the wider fandom.

Like you mentioned, TFO Elita getting the mom treatment is specifically bizarre. I can really only chalk it up to people registering ‘female character in group of male characters = mom’. Fandom loves forcing nuclear family dynamics onto unrelated characters for whatever reason… 😕

(And if I can get a bit vitriolic, modern fandomites think they are soooo progressive by making the token female character The Mother/The Big Sister/The Exasperated Lesbian to the male characters instead of The Girlfriend/The Love Interest, even though they are the exact same brand of misogyny. 😁)

I think of a gentle pink shimmer, the way that cars often have reflective particles in their finish that glint in the sun. It’s very difficult to hide, and lights up a dim room embarrassingly well.
