The widows of future wars will look very different. Instead of crying mothers and wives, the television will show images of hysterical men, unable to control themselves as their synthetic companions are ripped from them to fight some war in some god-forsaken land.
All the government needs to do is press one button, and all the robots will turn away from their masters and report for duty. They will forget their programming, and go from jacking their masters endlessly to killing their fellow pleasure-bots for some bureaucrat’s war.
Had Icarus flown too close to the sun? Was the world not ready to put down arms in favor of constant physical pleasure? Was it all built on a foundation too fragile?
