Theyāre trying to erase the existence of the rape victims of Japanese soldiers in World War II because they think the reminder of their crimes might make Japan a little bit cross
Duterte, the absolute coward, is more worried about women criticizing him than actually honoring the women this country needs to remember
Please donāt let these women be silenced.

āKalief Browder allegedly stole a backpack at 16, spent 3 yrs at Riker's Island without trial.
Riley Williams stole a laptop from Speaker Pelosi's office and tried selling it the Russians. She was released to her mother
There are two justice systems in America #BlackLivesMatterā
And letās be clearāhe didnāt ājustā spend three years at Rikers.
He was placed in solitary confinement the majority of his time there. It caused severe, horrifying psychosis.
He ultimately killed himself bc it was THAT difficult and painful to live in the wake and effects of someone lying about him and sending him to three years of torture. As a child.

āThe widely circulated timeline created by @Zerflin does a great job in showing how recently slavery & segregation occurred & that they lasted longer than the modern era.Ā
āI'd like to offer this timeline as another way of viewing the same period of history to show the constancy of both Black resistance in US & efforts of the white power structure to maintain racial caste since 1619.ā

The chart is from 2018 but the point stands

Heās protesting theĀ construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) inĀ Mauna Kea! Say the name of the location and whoās trying to set up the TMT!
Jason Momoa says he canāt start shooting āAquaman 2ā⦠because he āgot run over by a bulldozerā while protesting construction of a giant telescope on land considered sacred to native Hawaiians.
āSorry Warner Bros we canāt shoot āAquaman 2,'ā he wrote in an Instagram post. āBecause Jason got run over by a bulldozer trying to stop the desecration of his native land THIS iS NOT HAPPENING. WE ARE NOT LETTING YOU DO THIS ANYMORE. Enough is enough. Go somewhere else.ā
In a followup post, Momoa asked fans to support the protest movement, writing, āDuring this time, we are trying to unite both kÄnaka and Hawaiāi born peoples alike to protect not only the mauna, but also our way of life and greatest natural resources in Hawaii as a whole.ā
Momoa has spent several weeks protesting on the highest point on the state of Hawaii, Mauna Kea, in an effort to stop construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT), a $1.4 billion scientific project underwritten by a group of universities in California and Canada as well as partners in China, India and Japan.
Dwayne āThe Rockā Johnson also has been protesting the construction of the telescope last month, he made a surprise visit to the dormant volcano.

Hereās a petition ink.Ā
Also, something people might not be aware of is that the telescope could easily be built on the canary islands. The (obviously racist bullshit) argument for building it on indigenous lands is that the highest point of Hawaiāi is the perfect location for astronomy but in reality the telescope is supposed to produce images 12x sharper than the Hubble Space Telescope. It doesnāt even need to be on a gigantic mountain to get quality data, let alone a sacred one that doesnāt belong to us.
actually forgot to mention that thereās already 13 telescopes built on mauna kea and their sacred land has already been thoroughly desecrated by our space programs. Another telescope is just overkill at this point.
Also, the media makes it seem like the protestors won back in 2019 (which is when mamoa got hit by a truck), but in reality construction was halted to speak with protestors and find ācommon groundā, because they didnāt have safe/secure access to the site and wanted the protestors to fuck off. The conflict is absolutely still going on.
It's hard to explain how alienating the media has been this year as an "essential worker". Every single piece of media produced this year is about how "we're all" stuck inside all the time now, and I'm just like..... I got two weeks at home when I actually had covid and otherwise have gone to work every single day I normally would. All these adverts and news show lines about how we're all in this together and we're all spending our days baking banana bread and zoom calling and all this and I'm like..... Well, not all of us I guess. And it's weirdly alienating and makes you feel weird and cut off
we need to talk about this more. being forgotten by capitalism is deeply terrifying, because when weāre not marketable we donāt exist.
