Equality Florida has announced the #HonorThemWithAction Campaign, a nationwide commemoration of the Pulse massacre that calls on individuals and organizations to honor those killed by taking action to uproot the hatred that feeds bullying, harassment, discrimination, and violence.

It has been almost a year since the Pulse Nightclub attack, and not a day goes by where we are not reminded of the horrible acts going on in this world.

To the families and friends of the pulse attack victims: You are not alone. Our hearts and Prayers are with you.

I am honestly so shocked and hurt that attacks and hate crimes towards the queer community still happen, all because of the gender of attraction. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families. Orlando, we are with you.

Do you see these faces? These souls, these smiles, these eyes? You took these beautiful people from this world because of your hatred. Because of you, their friends, teachers, children, parents, lovers and loved ones will never again see those beautiful souls again. It was selfish of you to take so much love away from the world. Are you satisfied? Are you proud of yourself? You took away someones child. Their soulmate. Their happiness. The world cries because of what you did.

Terror in Orlando: The victims

Orlando Shooting

On June 12th, 2016, a man named Omar Mateen (29) attacked a number of people attending the Pulse nightclub, in an act of hatred, resulting in the largest effective single person shooting, the largest act of hate crime and terrorism since 9/11. There was a three hour standoff, resulting in 50 deaths (including Mateen) and 53 injuries. Mateen was an security guard which gave him access to firearms and knew the building well, as to keep many of his victims hostage. Since the attack, Equality Florida has started a fundraising page to help support the victims and their family, and have raised over $23 million for the cause.
