I love that Sam and Dean are equally unhinged when it comes to their not coping mechanisms after the other one dies, but in opposite ways.

When Sam dies, it's like: everyone better hide all the guns because Dean's gonna kill himself.

But when Dean dies it's: better hide all the guns because Sam is gonna kill everyone else.

And neither of these are an exaggeration.

They are so fucked up. I love them.

I'm convinced Lancelot was in love with Merlin. If not romantically than a brotherly love that rivals and even surpasses Merlin and Arthur. Even if not reciprocated, it is whole and absolute. Lancelot loved Merlin exactly the way he was never expected more or less of him.

But the most painful part is the darkest hour part two dialogue.

Lancelot: I look at you and I wonder about myself. Would I knowingly give up my life for something?

Merlin: You have to have a reason. Something you care about. Something that's more important than anything.

And Lancelot does. It isn't a vow to Gwen why would he offer to bring Merlin back to Camelot and abandon Arthur if that was it? Hell, it isn't even that protecting Merlin protects Arthur because why would he try to bring a healthy Merlin home. So it's not even for the good of Camelot either.

But you can argue all the points so my strongest point is simply where lance turns away from the veil. He nods and smiles as if to say "oh, that's who is more important than anything"

He turns and reminds himself before walking into death with open arms and a smile on his face.

There is not a thing that Lancelot put above Merlin. Not his dreams of being a knight, Gwen, Arthur, or even Camelot itself and especially not himself.
