Is everything okay?” Julie grits her teeth. “Everything’s fine. If you don’t have anything-” “I think you might have a burglar in the house, Ms Molina,” Covington cuts her off. “Unless you’ve got company, of course?” Julie glances over her shoulder to the rapidly deteriorating boys, bodies bending and shaking. Blood pools at the bottom of the basement door. She looks back. Caleb Covington’s eyes are narrow, looking past her again. “I think you’re mistaken,” she says and Covington blinks. “I have had quite a long day,” he says after a few moments of silence. “I would advise you to stay away from the basement. That never was structurally sound, far as I know. A real danger, back in my day. Of course, it has been some time since I’ve had the privilege of being in here. I don’t suppose you have entertained the thought of giving tours?” A ragged breath sounds in Julie’s ear. “He knows,” Reggie rasps. Julie tightens her grip on the door handle.
