Bitter sweet ending? A definite bitter sweet ending...
Before I delve any deeper into this brief review of âLove Alarm 2â let me preface this by saying that this one, is one for the books -see what I did there? Why... you may ask. Well, has there ever been a time in where you knew the outcome of a choice you were about to make, an outcome you knew you would hesitate to accept, and nonetheless you chose to carry it out and see the course play out because you jus had to? This is exactly Love Alarm 2 exemplified. I knew the outcome, I knew how I would feel about it and yet I succumbed to the temptation as binge watched it.
At the end of season 1 (before even having read the comic and knowing the final choice JoJo made) my head rooted for Hye Yeongie. He was patient, caring, mature, consistent and progressively becomes a genuine source of strength for JoJo. Hye Yeong without a doubt did/had everything to deserve the girl.
But... my heart screamed for Hwang Sun Oh -it was always pointed in his direction and never strayed. Sun Ho was oh so vulnerable (letâs not forget that iconic scene in season one in where he literally begs her to love him again) and so open about his feelings. How could one not fall for him?! And just.. in a very personal opinion, he seemed to need of JoJo so much more than Hye Yeongie might/ would ever. JoJo was his source of strength, happiness, light amongst his own dark world and this in my eyes made him as equally deserving of the girl. This of course does not exempt him from any reproach for enacting what I consider to be a completely against-the-bro-code move -approach the girl he clearly new this best friend liked. But that is exactly why this drama is/was so enticing because you went in rooting for the âbad guyâ knowing full well that the natural order of things always pointed in the direction of Lee Hye Yeong.
Now if you were a viewer who didnât immediately go looking for answers as soon as Season 1 ended and were completely blindsided by JoJoâs election in Season 2 let me reiterate how much I sympathize and can only console you with the thought that maybe someday in a different imagined universe both Kim So Hyun (JoJo) and Song Kang (Sun Oh) will meet and play out the happy ending you are owed. For those of you however that can only approve of her choice to remain by Hye Yeongâs side know that I completely see the reasoning(s), even rooting for their victory at one point, and yet I canât help but be left with a twinge of sadness at the reality of this outcome.
But alas, may we all soon find that next piece that will help us leave behind this world that brought us twinges of bitterness and sweetness.Â

âšLong time no view, but alas here I am and for no other reason(s) than to share with you my two-cents on the existential-crisis-inducing-because-thatâs-how-good-it-is series that is Taiwanese drama Lost Romance, featuring Marcus Chang and Vivian Sung. If you must know anything about Marcus (if you donât already) is that he sure is a charmer and I mean charmer! Heâs just so visually pleasing, his persona as a whole has this magnetism to it (especially when he sprinkles in that English when speaking) and heâs just so good at his craft. For her part, Vivian is just so natural and effortless -beauty wise and craft wise. And so their pairing is one for the books -ugh so much chemistry between them someone give them their own (class) room.
âšOhkay, letâs move on to plot. As a point of reference, if you have seen âThe Romance of Tiger and Roseâ the premise of âLost Romanceâ is similar. Heroine travels to a fictional story world in where instead of being the heroine of that story she is a secondary (scheming) character. Something to underscore and establish as a noticeable difference to TROTAR, is that âLost Romanceâ actively works to satirically exploit a lot of the overused tropes (cliches) so, so, so common to rom-coms. And thus in great part itâs the why behind this drama being such a great laugh. Additionally, as our fictional-world storyline progresses, a real-world storyline also simultaneously progresses. Hence viewers are moved between both worlds. I must say that a lot of the âwhysâ for the real-world storyline are not addressed until near the end and so you end up enacting a Cardi B., what was the reason!Â
âšNow, letâs be honest with you, episodes one through two are definitely ones that youâll (might) struggle getting past but do. not. let that keep you from viewing. Once you get to the story world you are in for unforgettable: hilarity, eye-candy, secondhand embarrassment, âfeels,â off the charts SLS, romance, and even *cough* youâll-need-a-cold-shower content (thank you Mr. Director, Mr./Ms. Screenwriter and who ever else was involved in giving us what we never ever considered possible).
This drama is such an: interesting, fun, emotional and all encompassing ride that youâll definitely be left yearning for more.

I like to be kind to myself yâall so I always tend to be two+ episodes behind when Iâm watching a drama that is airing at the moment. My brain likes knowing that there is always an episode to watch if the waiting gets tough. Then before the last two episodes -or in this case last episode- are aired I tend to catch up just so I can finish the show with everyone else. That is what I had been doing with The King; Eternal Monorch.
And then I read, âUnderstsnding thereâs only one thing he can do to right wrongs, Gon comes to a heart-wrenching decision.â My brain stared at heart-wrenching and said No! Long story short in order to not exasperate myself waiting for next Friday I will be watching episode 15 until next Thursday.

Arsenal Academy | â â â â â 4/5
Let me preface this by saying that I had decided to skip this series, but as it occurred âronaâ came about and well you already know the rest. The main reason I decided to forgo the series was my knowledge of the fact that do to censorship many scenes were cut -you can now find some of these scenes online. Given that these deleted scenes were of âintimacyâ between the main leading pair (Xie Liang Chen / Gu Yan Zhan) I believed that this would affect my viewing experience. I was wrong!
Arsenal Academy has a few things going for it and that thus make it a must and a great option to jump into if youâre looking for something to watch. The first being itâs depiction of our female ensamble. These ladies -from our female lead depicted by Bai Lu to the infuriatingly evil character that is Gao Yu Er- are strong (physically and mentally), confident, proactive, smart, ambitious... more than just âbeautifulâ and âpretty.â Its second point of praise lies in the performance(s) provided by all the cast. Whether a main character or secondary character all portrayals were vivid, graceful, and even endearing. But letâs be real the main point of attraction this drama has going for it is the chemistry between Bai Lu and Xu Kai (Xie Liang Chen / Gu Yan Zhan respectively). In other words, even though there was no physical demonstration of the love (e.g. kisses) between our main pairing other small interactions and/or displays of affection between them made up for it. Additionally, Xu Kaiâs portrayal of the flirty, immature, jaw-dropping male lead and very importantly the demeanor he had his character enact towards our leading lady excellently contributed -at least for me- in not feeling the âabsenceâ of said deleted scenes. Would they have been the cherry on top? Yes! Would they have made me squeal even more? You bet! But did their absence detract from the viewing experience? I believe not! And thus why âI was wrong!â Fourth, but not least everyone part of this cast is beyond pleasing to look at -especially our male cast- but of course this is just a bonus.Â
Now to the things that we really didnât really appreciate from Arsenal Academy. One, letâs just pretend that the last two episodes of this series werenât ever recorder and therefore they arenât part of the episode count. As far as we are concerned this series only has 46 episodes! Second, though the plot of this seriesâ is both intriguing and attention-holding there are some writing decisions that were âhuh??â inducing. At times I was unsure of what exactly was the connection between some of our plot points. Once again all of this constitutes minimal distaste compared to the overall value sustained.Â
PS: A final gem this drama gifted viewers with was the musical collaboration between Bai Lu and Xu Kai! âEnter a Dreamâ is such a beautiful piece, give it a listen and let me know what you think. Â

Ok tumblr darlings just be forewarned that I will be producing -because my soul needs it- an end of drama review for âCrash Landing On Youâ because my notifications have been popping and itâs been a struggle not clicking on them in order to not catch any spoilers before I watch it when I get home.
