I drew this during the summer, I was inspired by Thumbelina, old Barbie movies, and some videos of a Cinderella ballet I was watching at the time!

I hate you Ozempic craze I hate you 'heroin chic' I hate you weight loss ads on public radio I hate Burn Fat Fast ads every thirty seconds I hate you I hate you I hate you
I grew up before the term 'thigh gap' was invented I grew up before 'hip dip' was invented I was born before 'muffin top' was a thing before 'clean girl look' was a thing before 'glass skin' was a thing before razoring off peach fuzz was a thing and I'm so so so fucking tired of us inventing new concepts purely for the purpose of convincing people to hate their own bodies enough to buy products
Last time Tuberculosis ran through the USA a small number of people got it on purpose to look skinny and waifish and delicate and used makeup to look flushed and bony and when the Victorians figured out tapeworms people would infect themselves on purpose to starve themselves smaller and women and now in the year of our lord 2026 there is a noticeable fraction of the USAmerican population genuinely thrilled about a treatment-resistant microbial parasite that makes you shit and vomit your brains out for a month because side effects include weight loss and STILL we talk about being skinny like it's the natural default setting for all healthy people as if it's a self-sustaining standard and not an imaginary goal that we are constantly constantly constantly beating ourselves with a whip to acheive
reading about the participation of children in rituals as a form of play in ancient greece and came across an incredibly charming story from julius pollux's onomasticon where a flood prevented the adults from reaching a sanctuary to sacrifice a ram to heracles, and the children solved the problem by....sticking a bunch of sticks in an apple to give it "legs" and "horns" and offering it as a sacrifice instead. it's such a charming thought and i can perfectly picture kids these days also pretending at sacrificing an apple "goat" at recess
catch me on the playground playing sacrifices

Reading takes on here about how Percabeth is this beautiful romance is extremely amusing. Like, no hon. That's just a remarkably milquetoast straight romance at best and outright poorly written at worst.
4/30 Days of Aphrodite
Happy sacred Aphrodite day (during her month of April, with her day of the week being tomorrow during the new moon) everyone!
4) Which of her myths is your favorite?
I have 2 favorite myths, (LINK)
The first one is when Eros makes Ares and Aphrodite fall in love. In this myth, I don’t think he’s related to Ares but it’s still super cute!
Ares: *coming back from war with a new spear, makes fun of little Eros’ tiny javelin.*
Eros: but mine is a heavy. See? *Gives it to Ares*
*Aphrodite giggles in the background*
Ares: what the- it IS heavy! Take it ba-
Eros: keep it.
Thus binding Ares to Aphrodite forever. ♥️
The second one is a little bit more heart breaking but also heart warning in the sense of Ares and Aphrodite’s love, personalities and general trust in one another.
In this myth Ares and Aphrodite are already in love and believe in one another. This is also around the time Hephaestus returns to Olympus, traps Hera in the golden throne and leaves.
Zeus asks Aphrodite to help. He plans to offer her hand to the one who brings Hephaestus to Olympus.
She agrees for two reasons: 1) to help Hera and 2) she wholeheartedly believes the one who will succeed is Ares and this’ll be a great chance to also get Zeus’s blessing (who hates Ares and has been worried about who Aphrodite would marry.)
“Aphrodite agreed to the arrangment in the belief that her beloved Ares would prevail.”
Ares gave it all he had but could not handle Hephaestus’ weapon technology. (In some versions he is knocked out by Hermes who knew Hephaestus would kill him if he kept going.) Eventually Dionysis (or Hermes, depending on the version) convinces Hephaestus to willingly let Hera go and keep Aphrodite, the goddess every god wants to wed, for himself. He likes the plan:
“released his mother and wed the reluctant Love-Goddess.”
This story says a lot about their relationship. Ares kept going until he couldn’t or was forced to stop because he knew Aphrodite’s marriage was on the line and Aphrodite’s absolute belief in Ares’ strength may have come back to bite her, but it shows how much faith she has in him which is key to any relationship.
This is also why despite Zeus’s efforts to keep them apart, they kept being with one another and I think that is freaking destiny. ♥️
I love them so much!!!
Ah yes. They are just so awesome

They are already selling data to midjourney, and it's very likely your work is already being used to train their models because you have to OPT OUT of this, not opt in. Very scummy of them to roll this out unannounced.
here's some instructions for anyone who doesn't know how to opt out:
login in on desktop, it's not available on mobile yet
click "Account"
click on your blog
go to "Blog Settings"
go to "Visibility"
Scroll down to the bottom option
turn the toggle ON, not off
you will have to do this individually for each sideblog you have too, no way to do it for each account in one go
I just saw a post calling Ares "essentially a useless hothead," not exactly verbatim, but I'm so upset!!! I can't stand when people just brush Him off like that, it's so irritating! I'm sorry to just drop this in here but I don't know anyone else who could relate to me otherwise in this, I'm sure you know what I mean. I love Ares a lot, and His mythology, and I just hate to see people ignore any side of Him apart from "angry war God", y'know?
Oh yeah I completely understand your frustration! I have so much love and respect for Ares! I talk a lot on the blog about how people completely misjudge him constantly. Those people don’t take the time to actually educate themselves on his myths and instead just generalize him with how they view war. So yeah for those of us who have taken the time to get to know the REAL Ares and who have fallen in love with him it’s super irritating seeing pple spread false info about him.
Myths are not real, they are stories created by playwrights to entertain the Greek public and show (or criticize) politics.
War is something that you have to deeply explore and not judge without knowing and less than Ares for that.
I love God Ares a lot.
Ares was ahead of his time.
He’s portrayed as a “useless hot head” because Zeus didn’t like him. Zeus didn’t like him because Ares was always quick to call him out on his injustices and basically the only god that ever questioned Zeus because Ares is also the god of civil order and rebellion. So Zeus often made an example out of him but Ares is more than the bullshit myths that were written by Ancient Greek men to slander his name.
Ares teaches his devotees how to live with PTSD along with other war related trauma. He is a super feminist and has been since Ancient Greece which is saying a lot because women were basically property back then. The main reason why he was viewed as a buffoon was because he thought women were people. For example he killed one of Poseidon’s sons for raping his daughter and taught the Amazons how to defend themselves.
Another thing he did was forge ferocious warriors because Ares is a genius when it comes to discipline. This is the reason why the Spartans were so amazing and unlike other towns that were too embarrassed to openly worship Ares, the Spartans put him in chains so he wouldn’t leave and turn their neighboring enemies into amazing Spartans as well. They chained him so Ares’ strength and courage would always discipline them. And the Spartans also saved Ancient Greece from The Persions.
As the god of civil order and rebellion, Ares encourages his devotees to rise up when they are faced with injustices like racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. He admires his dad Zeus, but he questions him a lot because he knows Zeus isn’t always fair. He loves Hera because he sees how strong she is despite how unfair Zeus is to her but guess what? They both HATE him. He is disliked by so many gods except Aphrodite because she can see his heart. She can see the hero behind the constant defeat. Athena may constantly beat him but he never gives up and that’s what he wants his followers to do, never give up.
He’s constantly filled with rage but who in their right mind wouldn’t be when there is so much injustice in the world?
Ares is one of the twelve Olympians. He is ONE OF THE TWELVE OLYMPIANS. You know how many gods there are? You know how annoying it was for Zeus to accept him as one of the TWELVE Olympians? Because despite his flaws (that are constantly being pointed out, even though other gods are also just as flawed) Ares is AMAZING! He represents war because he is what you need to survive war.
He was also constantly put down by Zeus because Zeus was paranoid that Ares would take his place as the king of the gods. Think about that, Zeus was AFRAID of Ares surpassing him.
We haven’t even scratched the surface regarding Ares’ incredible power because again out of the MANY gods in Greece he was an Olympian. He wasn’t liked by Zeus OR Hera (the king and queen of the Olympians and the ones who decided which gods were Olympians and which weren’t) but even they couldn’t deny Ares’ strength as a god that RIVALED Athena.
Ares was and continues to be ahead of his time and even Athena wouldn’t underestimate him because as I mentioned earlier, he never gives up and neither should you.
things that 15 year old me did sophomore year that my southern-bred god-fearing conservative christian teachers Did Not Like
teacher refused to let me sit backwards in chairs. i made a point to sit backwards in chairs until she told me to stop, and then id manspread as much as possible. (semester one.)
teacher got onto my friend and gave her a panic attack over her newly dyed hair. i told her my friend putting red streaks in her hair was no different than her removing the grey streaks from her hair. got sent outside. (semester one)
teacher told me my bra strap was showing. took my bra off in class and put it in bag. was sent to principal’s office. mother was called, although she only muffled her laughter over the telephone. (semester two)
[to homophobic teacher who disliked my mothers] “what language is gaelic from? gayland?” “that’s where my moms are from, ma’am.”
teacher claimed i was lying about moving to uruguay and tried to force me into sitting in a personal meeting about my future classes and goals. told her to “sign me the fuck up for underwater basket weaving” and got sent outside. (semester two)
was told by teacher that “ladies should not say they have to pee. try ‘can i use the restroom’ instead” replied with “alright. i gotta piss like a racehorse. can i use the restroom?“ (got sent outside. again. semester two)
was told to “smile, you’ll look nicer” by a 6′0″ male coach i did not know. when he blocked my entrance out of the classroom until i smiled for him, i said “shove it straight up your ass,” before elbowing him in the ribcage, ducking under his arm, and running for it. skipped class in that building for a week. (semester two)
hopped a fence to catch my bus and flipped off an ancient male history teacher when he shouted at me to come back. he threatened to find me again. he never found me.
An inspiration.
I’d like to think that Ares would be really good at chess, for different reasons than Athena.
Where as Athena would take her time playing everything carefully until no matter what her opponent does it suits her, Ares ( usually recognized as the god embodying the brutality and carnage of war) would play a series of short term victories.
He would constantly win engagements, slowly winning by attrition.
His pieces never there to be taken, but always ready to pounce the moment you move.
His focus isnt the king, like Athena.
Its demolishing said kings empire stone my bloody stone
Ares: Aggressive hand holding.
Aphrodite: How does that work?
Ares: We arm wrestle as an excuse to hold hands.
