Light was a long-running and highly influential Canadian zine published by Leslie A. Croutch.   Like Fantascience Digest, Light maintained a strong and fairly consistent aesthetic across many issues.  Light features a well-executed and busy layout, brimming with compelling illustrations from a variety of artists. Of particular note is issue # 135, an “all-girl” issue featuring content from female artists and writers.

Queer Poets Write About Nature - Call for Submissions

Are you a queer and/or trans poet who wants to explore the natural world through poetry and short prose? You’re invited to submit to the Queer Poets Write About Nature zine anthology!

Your work does not have to be about lgbtq+ identity or deal with lgbtq+ themes.

Deadline: April 30, 2018

Email to: [email protected] with subject “Queer Poets”. Include your submission(s) in the body of the email or an attached Word (.doc or .docx) format document. Please indicate the name by which you would like to be credited. If accepted, you will receive an email by May 30, 2018.

If you are a writer of color and wish to be compensated for your work, please include your PayPal email or Venmo username. Writers of color will be compensated at $0.03/word. All contributors will receive a free digital copy.

I try to keep this just as a place for zines, but a close friend of mine is in trouble. GG is a community organizer and the creator of the zine Up the Witchpunx. GG (a disabled trans woman, right) and her partner, Ezmy, a Latinx trans woman (left), are being forced to move out of an unsafe and extremely hostile living situation in Olympia, Washington. I’ve been heartbroken as I’ve heard about how my friends have been gaslighted, accused, and now even threatened with a knife. I have encouraged them to stick it out before but now the situation is too dangerous. They are leaving tonight.

GG and Ezmy are raising money for housing and a vehicle. They have some friends to stay with for a while, but their needs remain urgent.  To help Gretchen and her partner survive, please donate. I want my friends to have some hope of secure housing during the holidays. paypal : [email protected]
