Brenna Jackson ► 31 ► Historical Archivist ► Bridget Regan
As a child Brenna was always quiet. The middle child of three was often overlooked but she didn’t mind. Her place in the family was found with relative ease and was grateful for that. Her parents, older brother, and younger sister were the most important people in her life. Even as she got older that never really changed. Relatively her childhood was completely normal and happy. She was shy and quiet, but her little sister’s bubbly personality forced Brenna out of her shell somewhat. Once she gets close to people is when Brenna really can escape her shell and her true colors show. Her friendly personality and bright smile made her someone that her friends enjoyed being around. Furthermore, Brenna always was the one her friends went to for advice regardless of the situation. Brenna always wanted to try and help them.
Born in Alexandria, Brenna was constantly surrounded by history and she was fascinated by it. The fact that her mother worked at the Smithsonian Institute and frequently brought her with to work only fueled Brenna’s desire to learn more about the topic. That curiosity eventually blossomed into passion as she made her way through high school with above average grades and burning eagerness to learn. The few friends she kept during that time were all very dear to her and Brenna is still friends with them even years later, but none more so than Henry Jackson.
Her determination and passion for history pushed her to choose that as her major when she entered Stanford University at the age of eighteen. It was that her friendship with Henry, a man she had known since she was nine, blossomed into something more. Although they had originally hooked up a year previously, things changed once they got to college. After a few years Henry proposed and the two were married shortly before Brenna graduated from college. Thanks to some help from her mother Brenna landed a job at the National Archives working with the documents a year later after she received her degree. Due to Henry’s hectic schedule, the pair agreed to put off having children for the time being and instead focused on their careers. Henry did his residencies and Brenna went on to achieve her masters and doctorate from Georgetown University after they moved back to Alexandria so they could be close to the National Archives, and their families.
Henry had nearly finished his residencies and became a fully practicing doctor when the pair began to revisit the topic of children. They spent time discussing it, wondering if a child would be a smart decision given Henry’s hectic schedule but in the end they agreed that it was the right time. Henry would be finishing his residencies soon and be a practicing doctor. They knew that he would not miss out on their child’s life and Brenna knew she could handle things until Henry’s life slowed down. Once the decision was made, it did not take long for Brenna to conceive. Nine months later Grace was born happy and healthy, much to her parents’ joy. Brenna had always loved children and wanted some of her own, so having a daughter with her husband was one of the happiest moments of her life. Finally they had everything they had always wanted; it just took them longer than they would have liked to achieve it.
Through her hard work, Brenna is now has everything she could have wanted. She is working as a historical archivist at the National Archives. She has a husband she’s loved since they were children, and a new daughter that never fails to make her smile. She commutes to and from Alexandria for work on most days after dropping Grace off with daycare. Outwardly she is friendly and tries to be kind to everyone she meets despite the fact that she is a relatively introverted and reserved person. Brenna tries hard to make friends and is extremely loyal to them if they have earned it. Those who stick by her through thick and thin at the ones she trusts more than anyone else. For Brenna it feels as though her life is perfect now and nothing could go wrong. She has everything she could have asked for and could not be happier about it if she tried.
