Welcome to suburbia Brandon. He’d been here only a few days and hated it but with Avenger security moving his mother once again, he had no choice but to tough it out.
Still, the other got his attention. Probably a little too old to know who he was. Swallowing his ego, which took some practice and taking off the sunglasses.
“Yeah, hi… insert your name here”
Engaging in a simple greeting with everyone wasn’t always effective. There was a certain rugged neighbour who despised small talk and would hardly ever respond to his calls for good morning nowadays.
Was it too soon to say his name? Maybe. But was he still going to say it? Absolutely.
❝ Joseph. Are you new around these parts, neighbour? ❞
Now he felt bad he wasn’t aware of it --- otherwise he’d have prepared a tray of cookies, or some welcome brownies. He was sure his kids would certainly want to nose around a little.
dippedindes:
It’s like he had opened the door to brightest blond sun the world had ever seen.
OoO! And goodies!
Desmond steps aside and laughs, motioning for Joseph to come in. “That’s always your goal! I’m always happy to help a fellow baker and neighbor, Joey. What’s the menu so far?” The green eyed man leans against the door, watching the pink shirt practically skip into his house.
Joseph was always a different brand of sunshine- like if sunshine had dusted sugar in it and was baked the max temperature of happiness. When Joey was at his peek of happiness, it really blessed the whole neighborhood(no pun intended).
Kindness around these parts isn’t as frequent as the imagery presents itself to be, so because of this, Joseph’s glad he has Desmond --- a little reprieve from the harshness that could be around. Besides, he was a friendly neighbour, and that helped encourage him to get to know him.
And he certainly did like that nickname, not that he was partial to nicknames like that --- few would get away with it, but Desmond could quite easily. It helped that he had a smile that could melt butter.
❝ I’ve got rainbow sugar cookies, unicorn cupcakes and glitter brownies. Unicorns are the new ‘in thing’, right? Oh, and a new cake recipe, I call it a slice of heaven! ❞

This was being a normal adult, right? Profusely apologizing and embarrassing oneself for bumping into another adult. This level of embarrassment was usually reserved for bad movies. Shogo, surprisingly, hadn’t been awakened by the little bump. When he slept, he was out for the count. She was lucky for that.
An awkward smile crossed her face for a moment.
❝ Totally, my bad. I wasn’t paying attention. ❞ She glanced up from checking on the boy.. ❝ Jubilee, yeah. Yeah, Shogo needs his vitamin D an’ I needed to run some errands. This heat is awful, though. You? ❞
It was always nice to bump into the other friendly parents. Joseph had met his fair share of company that didn’t particularly enjoy conversation. Though there was one of his neighbours he could think of that hated small talk, yet still once was great company. Still, she seemed generally -- nice, and quite easy to talk to, which was a relief.
❝ Oh I hope he wasn’t woken by that... ❞ Joseph made a conscious effort to keep his tone hushed. ❝ Not a fan of the heat? I do enjoy it myself, I’d much rather be by the sea enjoying it but beggars can’t be choosers. I haven’t had the pleasure into running into you more often, spending some time outside town? Adventures of a young mother? ❞

the weather had been particularly brutal. not that it affected her so much as it did the little one. poor little thing had fallen asleep in the stroller, jubilee carefully monitoring his vitals to make sure he was doing okay. his stroller did have a little fan attached to the hooded shade she had pulled over him. she was so focused on shogo she hadn’t realized how close she was to the blond man she managed to knock in the ankles. ❝ oh my god, i’m so sorry. oh hey… you’re the guy from the bake sale. ❞
Perfect margarita weather --- Joseph couldn’t help but think to himself as he placed one foot in front of the other. The relaxing thought of putting his feet up whilst he sat on his yacht with the sun beaming over him and a drink in his hand. How he would love someone to share that moment with...
Lost in his thoughts just as he felt the light knock, snapping him out of that holiday-daze.
❝ Oh I’m sorry... ❞ He paused for a moment, recognising her from their brief chat. ❝ Why, hello! Yes, yes I am. Joseph. You’re... Jubilee? Oh gosh, are you just out for a walk on this fine summers day? ❞
@strikerlikelightning // SC.
A perfect day for mowing the lawn, and naturally, he would do it in style; still adorning his signature jumper and polo combo, the jumper wrapped around his shoulders giving him warmth and comfort, though --- in this weather, it wasn’t really needed.
As he noticed the man walking by, an unusual and new face, he raised his hand politely.
❝ Good morning! ❞
Maybe that would prompt conversation. Short but sweet.
@dippedindes // SC.
Greeting his neighbour with a huge huge smile, pearly veneers on show for the world to see as he held the product of his labour; a tasting platter of baked goods - or rather, test goods, for his next bake sale.
❝ I need to thank you again for helping me decide. Mary’s been awfully busy lately, and our next sale is creeping up sooner than I thought! If you’ve got any ideas or improvements, I’d just love to hear them. We want to make this the best sale--- well, ever! ❞

An unusual visitor to the church. He didn’t expect it, especially since he was just heading out to start locking up. Joseph had changed from his robes, and was ready to head home, but Tony was stood there --- looking oh so concerned about something or rather.
❝ Anthony? ❞
How unusual. If he remembered correctly, in their last conversation Tony had made mention of not being too religious - so why was he at the church?
❝ Is something the matter? ❞

GIVE NOT INTO TEMPTATION were the words that had come through Joseph’s head at that second, wondering whether he should say something that would be strangely bold, but opted for the safe option. He knew the other dads had been talking about him, he knew what they were saying, those looks that he was getting at his own barbeques, he knew what it all meant. He didn’t need to give them cause for such a thing.
❝ What is bothering you, Anthony? ❞
cryptxdkxng:
Falling into place at Joseph’s side, he gave a lazy shrug of his shoulder. His gaze focused on everyone else in the vicinity instead of the man he was speaking to. After all, he didn’t have to work to get Joseph’s attention. It was given as easily as Robert gave his own to the blonde or the flask in his hand. Not that anything more interesting than lemonade was inside, but it was bound to drive Joseph nuts thinking otherwise.
“Hardly call stating the obvious forward. Especially when you already know how I feel.” He took a long sip from the flask before holding it out to Joseph, finally looking over at him as he did.
@cxltdad cont
Joseph scowled at the flask, wondering if it was whiskey. It was probably whiskey. No, it was definitely whiskey. While Joseph loved tequila himself, often dousing his margaritas in it, he wasn’t fond of much else. And drinking inside a church -- in the comfort of his own office -- seemed so wrong. But it wasn’t the worst thing he and Robert had done in that office.
He tilted his head one one side, pushing back a few strands of hair before taking the flash to just hold beneath his nose. The fragrance of whiskey was his -- it belonged to Robert, which was the only reason he’d tolerate it. But when he held it under his nose, he looked at the man with a small pout.
❝ Lemonade..? Cute. ❞ He smirked a little, purposely lowering his sweater a little to show off that plain of skin to Robert. ❝ I can make some great lemonade cupcakes... Get that sweet tooth of yours all excited. ❞
“Why didn’t you just say you liked it rough?”
@arrowsbro
PURITY in its whole, that’s how Joseph was seen by the masses; the innocent youth minister that enjoyed baking and sailing - but there were certain desires that were feared, certain things that he wanted that were taboo - and yet he was drawn to them like a moth to a flame. He loved the rawness of affection, and how it could make him feel like someone else entirely.
Clearing his throat, the minister attempted to rid that growing lump in his throat. ❝ ---- Shh, keep your voice down... Someone might hear, please. ❞
“I love seeing you covered in my marks…”
@cryptxdkxng
His hand rose to his chest, placing it ever so gently over the sleeve of his jumper that he adorned, pressing it close to his chest --- it was almost as though in that very moment he could feel the heat from those marks; the way that Robert’s teeth grazed his pure, porcelain skin - turning it bright red almost instantly. He remembered the sharpness of those canines, and how those calloused fingertips would drag down his skin.
Almost lost in a daze, thanks to those words, all the while a crimson blush dusted his cheeks.
❝ Oh Kirk Douglas---- I uh, someone’s feeling forward today, aren’t they? ❞ A low chuckle escaped his lips, trying so hard to not let his mismatched hues focus on the man.
